This was definetely the best choice for our family. My wife wanted to go to a 4 star hotel 'cause she thought everything would have been better there. After a few reviews and advice from some of our friends that had already spend their holidays there we decided to have a try. The place was very lovely. Not a very big yet not a very small one.. We''ve been in several bigger Hotels and have realised that there you're just a number, nothing more, Trust me it's so sad. Yet this more expensive. In Altura Hotel, on the contrary, the experienced and friendly staff made us feel at home and definetely more than mere numbers. Hope you'll enjoy it too! :)

The hotel was spacious, quiet and clean throughout. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was of a high quality and there was a fantastic view from the breakfast table! Perfect location with some lovely walks nearby. Great value for money.

Upon arriving at the reception office, Francesca, the gracious manager, was summoned. She welcomed us warmly and showed us to our room, which was done in simple but charming Mediterranean-style white and blue furnishings. (My request for a patio had been fulfilled.) Each room has its own entrance, so the place feels more like a villa than a hotel. Francesca suggested several local boat tours and told us which beach to go to where we could rent chairs and umbrellas (Sporting Club). Suggestion: Get to the beach early in the morning because the whole stretch of parking fills up very quickly. The landscaping and setting at Altura Hotel is gorgeous. Their are splashes of vibrant blooms everywhere, with a gorgeous view of the distant sea and town. The beautiful pool has the advantage of this view as well. Breakfast is served indoors, in a room that overlooks the pool and again, the spectacular view. We had dinner in Palau, a very short drive from the hotel, at restaurants that I would highly recommend: Roberto's and Ristorante San Giorgio (reservations a must, especially if you want an outdoor table at San Giorgio).
As an American, I am always amazed at three-star European hotels like the Altura that are managed with pride and care. An absolute find!

it is what I was looking for : beautiful location, nice and peaceful walks, culture, excellent food and wine, gorgeous weather.
