“A very pleasant hotel in an ideal location!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

Stayed at the Alexandra Beach in Sept 2011 and certainly can say it wasn’t dirty or
"smelly " . The room was one of their ‘standard’ rooms so extremely basic with a simple shower, toilet & sink, aircon, hairdryer (in all probability the best hairdryer I have ever had in a hotel room!!!), double bed, TV & fridge however it was cleaned every day, fresh towels provided daily and the staff were attentive and efficient. The view from the room was amazing over looking the pool and sea. Has to be noted that some of the rooms have been refurbished (stayed in one on my last day as wanted to extend my room, however given a refurbed one for the day) and they are larger along with generously proportioned bathrooms and are far less basic so if looking for something less fundamental you may wish to request one of these rooms.

The hotel setting is excellent as a very short walk from the main strip plus the pool bar serves a good selection of food and drink at reasonable prices. Stayed on a half board basis and the food was plentiful, basic with slight variations daily so hence you would not go hungry. However if looking for alternatives there are local bars and restaurants within a few mins walk if you wish to try something different. The Alexandra Beach has a very pleasant pool and the hotel sits right on the beach so you have the choice of both, if a sun bathing bunny. One thing that needs to be considered and probably be of concern to some, is the steep hill to gain entrance to the front of the hotel, thus incurring a steep walk up to it. Did not bother me too much plus found alternate avenues to walk to avoid it, nonetheless if pushing a buggy or in a wheelchair or difficulties with walking may be a slight issue.

Most holiday web sites show the AB as a 3 star, which I would say it is, so don’t expect it to be a 4 star or higher. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at the AB and it certainly provided everything I required and was in a prime location for all the attractions Tsilivi had to offer.

“First time Zante”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

My wife and I stayed at the Alexandria beach hotel for our first visit to Tsilivi in Zante, we were very impressed with the hotel, the position of which couldn't be better. Just on the outskirts of the resort overlooking the beach and the sea, the hotel consists of the main hotel block with several bungalow units in the grounds, we were housed in one of the units which we were slightly dissapointed in at first. The room was very basic but I supposed adequate.
The hotel it's self was was very clean and well run, staff very friendly and helpful, the linen/towels was changed every day by the cleaning staff. The poolside facilities were good, plenty of sun loungers and sunshades, the bar alongside the pool was very good with a good menu if you were hungry.
The restaurant was well run in it's entirety but the American style buffet meals for us anyway, left a lot to be desired. The breakfast consisted mainly of cold continental style quisine salads ,ect, although there were fried eggs and Chippolata sausages with baked beans served every day these do get a bit monotonous after 2 weeksThe evening meals had slightly more variation in them but for us were not hot enough, which when serving meat I think is important, the plates were also cool which didn't help,
The only other downside to the hotel is, it is situated on the top of a very steep hill, which to be fair the brochure did state, but views out to sea were magnificent,
The resort of Tslivi was very lively with plenty of bars/restaurants to suit every taste, we hired a car for ten days and explored all over the island with very little traffic the driving was very relaxed and enjoyable, looking forward to going back in the future, but maybe on a room only basis at the Alexandria Beach hotel.

“Anything for a comfortable bed !”

- Lovely views of the sea
- Clean beach
- Hotel is very clean, in public spaces
- this hotell is dated and indifferent: don't be fooled by the nice pictures of nice rooms. If you are given a room that has not been "modernized", you will find yourself spending your precious holiday in a room which is an insult to half decent hostel accommodation.
- Food: breakfast is rarely hot, and coffee is not served at the table. So, you take your coffee/tea from the machine and put it on your table, and then it goes cold while you get your breakfast. Or the other way round. Your choice. The waitresses are very very keen on removing your plate and cutlery at the earliest possible opportunity, but won't actually do anything for you.
Dinner: more or less the same everday, but adequate quality and quantity. As long as you are not to bothered about good desserts.
Snackbar at the pool: suprisingly good, espec the Greek salad, the burgers and pitta sandwiches !

- Pool: too small for this size hotel and unheated. Only 2 people actually used during my stay in October. Sun loungers are uncomfortable and are guaranteed to give you a nice little backache. No mattresses, no towels, some parasols are unusable.

- Staff: nice and friendly, but really need some customer service training !

Oh, and one more thing. Putting toilet paper into the toilet is not allowed. You wipe your a*** and put the paper into the bin provided. Apparently the island sewers cannot cope with toilet paper......nice.........

Would I go back there ? No way. I have had more pleasant stays in so called developping countries.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a "modernized" room. And pray.

“OH! for some hot food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

The hotel was clean and well placed with beautiful views of the sea,it is up a steep hill so would be difficult for anyone with walking problems. The food was cold and because it was the end of the season the choice at breakfast got less as the week went on.At the evening meal the served the same selection of fruit and ice cream every other night (Apple,Kiwi and Grapes) or the other night there was one dessert along with the fruit. The rooms are basic and could do with a make over. There are no beach towels and only shampoo and one tablet of soap in the bathroom all week. The restaurant is at the bottom of the garden so when it did rain you got wet going for your meal. The beach bar is dull and could do with perhaps painting and a few pictures. This could be a nice hotel with a bit of care!
