“Fantasic holiday in Turkey with Exclusive Escapes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2006

Have just returned from week at the Lvanta Hotel in Turunc Bay, Turkey. We ahd a wonderful holiday. This is the first package holidya I have ever booked but the company Exclusive Escapes are a very special company.

The hotel is small and only has 13 rooms, but each one is beautiful and clean and the beds comfortable. The hotel has a small pool and bar area which also serves good food. the hotel is run by a lovely Turkish lady called Hale, and the Hostess Rosa, is a lovely Dutch lady. Both ( nad most people in the area) speak excellent English.

The atmospher is chilled and relaxed with plenty of comfortable loungers around the pool area.

The rooms are a mixture of doubles and twins and large and nicely decorated. bathrooms only have showers but they are lovely double showers with excellent water pressure.

I recomend one of the rooms on the top floor, a) because of the view and b) because then you don't hear people above you. The hotel is quiet and secluded but as there are tiled floors we could occassionally hear people walking above us if they had on high heels.

breakfast is served by the pool, fantsastic views as the hottel is at the top of a hill. Mainly turkish in style with fresh fruit, olives, chesse, bread, honey and jams. Cereal, yogurt and egg.

delicious!!

The town of Turunc is still fairly turkish but with the tourist shops creeping in. lovely beech and harbour area, very pretty and good choice of restaurants, both Turkish and of the "egg & chip" variety if thats what you need to eat on holiday.

From the hotel you can get a courtesy bus which runs between 10 and 6, or walk down, 15 - 20 mins. taxis are readily availbale and cost 10 lira ( about £4)

All ina ll, i thouroughly recomend the hotel and the company Exclusive Escapes.

“Lavanta (Turunc) not Lavanta Village (Bodrum)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2005

There appears to be a bit of confusion with the past couple of reviews. One reviewer seems to be taking about the Lavanta Hotel, based in Turunc (small resort near Marmaris) and the others seem to be talking about a resort near Bodrum. Anyway, I personally stayed at Lavanta based in Turunc which was a great hotel with lovely, well presented rooms with stunning views over Turunc Bay. The hotel was classed as a boutique hotel as only has 13 rooms and it was a refreshing change to be in somewhere so small and personal. Service is excellent and the owners certainly make you feel at home. The breakfast is first class, and the theme evenings well worth it. The big negative about this place is the WASPS!!! Yes, you cannot get 5 mins peace without a wasp buzzing about your head or trying to hide in your drink. It appears that they have a real wasp problem here and while this may not be a problem for some my wife is totally [--]scared of them, so we did not hang about the pool area much, and breakfast was a quick affair. Also, as the hotel is built into the hillside there is a very step descent and/or climb to the village of Turunc. Although, the walk down in early evening while the sun is setting is very pleasant stroll (although watch out for the crazy Turk drivers!!). The village has a good choice of restaurants and is fairly quiet after dark. Overall my wife and I spent a very enjoyable and relaxing week at Lavanta. One word of warning though, don’t bother going to the nearby resort of Marmaris as you will to be hassled by hundreds of restaurant and bar owners – What a hole of a place!!

“Charming Quiet Small Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2005

We went to the Lavanta mid October 2005. This is a charming hotel where you feel more like in a guest house. It's ideal for couples (you can't have children anyway).

All the rooms have see view and some of them have large terraces. If you go to Hiddenturkey you can actually see extensive list and picture of each room (including the sea views), communal areas, beach club and even a description of the available excursions. Fantastic website indeed.

Bedrooms are very nice. Bathroom is good but lighting is poor. Shower is small but with lots of pressure.

The communal area is basically a big terrace with the eating corner, the swimming pool (small), the bar (with small library, big TV with 500 channels, DVD Player, Stereo with lots of CD's).

Unfortunately the restaurant only provide English type food, except for the weekly "South Eastern Europe" meal. Shame considering the quality of Turkish food.

The complimentary arrival snack was very poor (white bread with processed cheese and a slice of tomato) so I recommend you bring your own snack.

Note that there was lots of wasps everywhere in the area (hotel, beach, even on boats). Hotel owner told me it is the first year it happens for some reasons and that they will be spraying products around the hotel next year to avoid alleviate the problem. Not sure if that will prevent the problem as there was so many of them everywhere.

You can walk down to Turunc (20 mn) or use the shuttle (runs 3 times a day). Turuncs has lots of good restaurants and they cater very well for vegetarians, fish and meat eaters. They tend to all serve the same dishes though. I recommend the last restaurant on the beach before the little foot bridge, it opens all year (it's called something like KOFEZ)

Although you can use the Dyonisos facility, it is actually quite far to get there so you need to use 2 shuttles or a taxi (around 15 liras).

The beaches are all pebble or added coarse sand.
The beach club is good but note it closed on the 20 October (although not mentioned by Luxury Escapes).

Very good overall.

Serge
