Stayed at Aldwark Manor, Sat 11th Feb on their Valentine offer (Dinner, B&B, £10 Spa voucher, plus Champagne & Chocs).
In the end I would rate out stay as just about OK. It was very nearly a none event, due to not being able to get through to the Spa Reception prior to arrival to book a Spa treatment. When I eventually spoke to someone on the day before our visit, all available treatment slot were fully booked. Which was a disappointment, when you've booked a spa weekend!
I also discovered at the time that I should have also pre-booked a meal time for the evening meal (which wasn't communicated at the time of booking). This resulted in us being allocated a 9pm slot for the evening meal.
I tried to cancel our booking on the Friday (due to no Spa and late meal time). However I was informed that any "offers" are non-cancellable, so we went ahead with the trip.
Fortunately, (and whether some calls were made from the booking team to the spa team... not sure, but I suspect so!) we had a call from the Spa manager Friday pm advising of a cancelled slot on Sunday, so I did manage to book the Full Holistic Treatment for my wife.
From this point on, I can say that ALL staff we dealt with were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful.
I used the Gym while my wife had her Spa treatment. The treament was reported to be very relaxing and worthwhile. The gym equipment (running tracks) were dated and not well maintained. The pool was a decent size, but the steam room was dissapointing and the jacuzzi out of order.
Hotel room was OK (but didn't feel like 4*). Our view was of the hotel wall opposite.
Meal was good, although you're going to struggle to keep within the £26 per person allowance!
Overall I'd say it was OK, a near dissaster averted thanks to helpfull staff.
Advice would be to make sure you book early for any treatments and restaurant times.
