“Warm and friendly, stunning location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2011

This was our second visit to Le Chateau and it will not be our last.
We have been visiting Guillestre for many years and find it a perfect base for summer alpine walking and canoeing.
The house is within 2 min walk of the working village centre which has enough bars, shops and restaurants for week's stay and has access to countless glorious walks within 30 minutes drive.
The building is a beautiful French 'maison bourgeoise' with many original features, as well as comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. The views up and down the valley are second to none. Emma is a quietly welcoming host who runs a flexible operation calmly and efficiently and offers great value for money. Long may Le Chateau flourish Emma, we'll be back.

“Stay here- charming and authentic, great value for money.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2010

During a cycling tour of the Alps, I stayed at Le Chateau for two nights. It is an amazing place to stay. The bedroom I was in was a great size and the en suite seemed brand new and was spotless. French windows opened out to an amazing view down the valley. I had access to a large private day room with sofas and chairs and TV. Large dining room table to spread out maps on. Secure garage for bike.
Just cross the road and the river and you're on the edge of the town with a short walk up to the centre which had 3 great value restaurants.
Hosts could not have done anymore for me and I even got my cycling kit washed!

“So much better than a resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2009

We have just come back from a ski trip and stayed with 'The Ingles' in their fabulous house. Every day we visited a different ski field all within about 40mins.

It was great to have a new adventure every day and Phil has excellent knowledge about all the fields and what they have to offer for different abilities.

We really enjoyed staying at 'Le Chateau' and found it a much nicer, roomier option rather than going back to a pokey chalet for the same money.

“super space”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2008

I know the owners so cannot pretend to be a total stranger. The rooms are huge, comfortable and spotless with lovely en suite and wonderful views. Other guests also appreciated the freedom to use the garden all day and the market in Guillestre provided delicious picnics. The lounge and dining area is very user friendly and there is plenty of information on the recources in the area. The walking in the Queyras is delightful and Phil and Emma are full of useful information about where to go, for all standards of skier, walker, climber or cyclist. The weather is also just what you need on holiday. The Tour de France goes past the front door some years and is a very exciting time. Go and see for yourself.

  • Liked — the large rooms and garden
  • Disliked — the steep lane leading up to it.

“Hidden gem in the Alpes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2008

After years of riding in the same spots in the Alpes (mainly the Portes du Soleil) what a find! Some of the best cross-country riding we've ever done (thanks to Phil's local knowledge and GPS assisted trail finding) and plenty to do besides (climbing, hiking, via ferrata, etc). Phil and Emma were the perfect hosts and we'll be back next summer if not before!

John, Nottingham.
