We chose the Charles Cotton hotel as the venue for our wedding breakfast in December 2011. We had a very intimate wedding with two very close friends as witness and then afterwards at Charles Cotton. Prior to booking we sampled lots of hotels and restaurants locally and finally settled on Charles Cotton after only one visit. We went on a Sunday for dinner, we are big foodies and love good quality food and wine. Along with the high standard of food and wine we were extremely impressed with the welcome we received and the service was excellent, good breaks between courses and extras such as a side salad as standard with the meal which we did not expect. The decor and surroundings are beautiful and typical of a country hotel/inn, presentation throughout and the ambience was impeccable. On the day we arrived for the wedding breakfast 1st December all the Christmas decorations had been put up and each room was aglow with candlelight, roaring open fires and the ambience and atmosphere was truly magical, welcoming and cosy. Most of the produce on the menu is sourced locally which is also a positive to us. Following the meal we then sat in a seating area near the bar on comfy leather sofas where we drank and chatted the night away. We could not have chosen a more perfect venue and would highly recommend Charles Cotton to anyone thinking of a country wedding or just a romantic weekend away. Out only regret was that as we live fairly local (Buxton) we did not stay over at the hotel but at least it will be nice to go back for our first anniversary (cotton) to stay! Went for the weekend to walk the dogs and relax, found a warm welcome some great walks and a lovely place to unwind. Food, room all very nice.

Charming location in centre of picturesque village. Excellent area for walkers. Staff friendly and obliging. Room fresh and comfortable. Meals excellent along with service. Good ales and wine. Open fire and comfortable lounge. No complaints at all and highly recommended.

I went to the Charles Cotton Hotel in january to meet friends who were staying there for the weekend and had such a great time that i booked a room for the following evening, the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you,the food was excellent and they had singers on both nights i was there which were very good too, all in all an excellent weekend and i shall be returning again in march!
