“Cosy, laid-back accommodation with friendly, helpful staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We rented a 1 bedroom cabin using the internet-only deal for 2 nights accommodation. Our cabin was cosy and comfortable, with its own kitchen, shower and toilet. The air-con was a bit of a roarer but you have other options like ceiling fans. Staff members were laid-back and friendly, and very helpful and patient with all our enquiries and requests. The Lodge's Bistro is only open for dinner (at least when we were there), so food options are limited, but that's generally the case for the Kakadu area. As this was the low season, it was very quiet (apart from the wildlife at night) and uncrowded. Perfect.

In summary, very happy with our stay here at the Lodge, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a no-fuss, laid back place.

Room Tip: As mentioned, food options are limited in Kakadu. The Lodge's Bistro only opens for dinner, and...

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. It was pleasing to read that you had enjoyable and relaxing stay with us. We are undertaking refurbishment to some of our rooms over the wet season for the benefit of our guests. As part of this exercize we are replacing airconditioners where required. The bistro is open nightly throughout the year. We will recommence our Sunday brunches from the second week in February and as the rain starts to ease there will be outdoor movie nights by the pool on a weekly basis.

We look forward to seeing you again soon at Kakadu Lodge or one of our other Aurora properties

Kind regards

“Clean, tidy, better value than the Holiday Inn”

If you are worried about this place, don't be. It is fine and the cabins are nicer than the Holiday Inn, which needs a renovation.

“Great get away location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Stayed 2 nights in a 2 bed cabin. Currently low season so it is almost empty and prices reasonable. Fantastic pool with noodles to use for kids. Ate at bistro first night - steaks were fine, no complaints. Cabins were clean, tidy, good kitchenette and full size fridge. We weren't expecting anything brilliant, just a place to get out of town for a couple of days - and we left happy and refreshed. No idea what it would be like in busy season, but we'd stay again in the wet.

“Good Value Cabins & Facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

person found this review helpful

Good Value Cabins & Facilities. I have stayed in every hotel in Kakadu over the past few years with the exception of the one in the South (near Pine Creek) of the park.

My recommendations would be:

1. Camping! Yes Camping is best in Kadadu, even though the Rangers do make it quite restricted and keep you well away from the best spots. Koolpin George would be one of my recommendations.

2. Kakadu Lodge and Caravan Park
3. Gagudju Lodge Cooinda (partially due to the location, especially if starting your visit from the North & exiting via Pine Creek)
4. Aurora Kakadu Hotel (at Northern Entrance to Kakadu, but not that well positioned, except perhaps as your last night if heading back to Darwin)
5. Lakeview Park Kakadu

That would be my preference and as usually I have been traveling for work or as a single overnighter on a short visit for pleasure from Darwin, I guess budget was a little less of a factor than it would be if it was part of a full holiday.

Definately Camping is your best bet if traveling for pleasure/Tourist.

Anyway back to where I usually stay Kakadu Lodge and Caravan Park

Good basic/medium level property, great sized pool and bar / picknick / dinner area which was great for relaxing & a cold one.

Rooms were clean & of good size and good value for Kakadu.

Nothing too spectacular, But then whats spectacular about the area is the natural environment.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Kakadu Lodge. We value all feedback to the property. It was great to read that you have stayed at all properties within Kakadu and choose to stay with us.

Camping is certainly a great option when travellijng in Kakadu and there are many campgrounds within the park for travellers to stay, all campgrounds provide convenient access to nearby attractions. Our campground is centrally located in Jabiru and is the largest in Kakadu with over 180 powered sites and acres of bush camping.

We look forward to seeing you again at Kakadu Lodge or one of our other Aurora properties

“Clean & affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Stayed 2 nights in a cabin & it was clean & comfortable.
The pool was nice & refreshing after a long hot day hiking & sightseeing.
Ate 1st night at the poolside bistro. I thought it was ok (but obviously microwaved), my wife wasnt so happy with hers & was motivated to cook our own dinner 2nd night.
Being wet season we were unable to get to most of the waterfalls, so did the 1 hour scenic flight. It was fairly expensive, but spectacular

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, we value all feedback. It was dissappointing to read your meal was less than satisfactory. We get plenty of compliments from our bistro and during the quieter times of the year we have a constantly changing menu to provide a variety of options for our diners, which is all cooked to order, not microwaved or from a bain marie environment. We are happy to address any problems that arise with any dish that is prepared from our kitchen immediately and are always happy to refund or replace when there is a problem, this is something difficult to do when the feedback given is reported 11 months after your dining experience with us.
