We stayed here just for 2 nights but it was so nice I was sorry we didn't have more time to stay longer!! Our double-bed studio was ground floor, and it the largest motel room we have stayed in so far in NZ. The kitchenette was equipped with the usual - toaster, kettle, microwave, fridge etc. The rest of the room was so nicely decorated, not at all like other bland motels, with large flatscreen tv & dvd player. The bed was really large, and so comfortable. The bathroom was stocked with really nice shower gel, shampoo etc. And powerful hairdryer (hard to find in a motel in my experience!). There was a small deck out the back, and with conservatory doors plenty of light coming through to the bedroom. The owners were so helpful with loads of information on the local area. They also have internet - usually pay per use but they did give us a complimentary 60 minutes, free weekend newspaper and they also have dvds to borrow at reception. Slightly pricier than other motels I've been in but well worth it for the little extras mentioned and the high standard room & great service.

Lovely clean generous sized room. Great central location - was able to walk to my restaurant for dinner.

The Nautilus, to me, is clearly the best and nicest motel I have stayed in while on holiday in New Zealand. If there is one available, I normally stay in Bella Vista motels which themselves are by no means shabby but the Nautilus is up another level.

The Nautilus is easy to find on the main High Street in Motueka, just as you start to head out of the small town centre in the general direction of the Abel Tasman national park.

I was greeted with a pleasant welcome, given some handy information about things I could do while in the area and shown up to my unit which was very spacious, very nicely furnished and above all gleaming clean. Not just ok clean but shining clean.

I have perhaps an unusual point I consider towards the overall quality of a studio motel unit and that is how noisy the fridge is. I find a noisy fridge buzzing away a huge distraction to getting to sleep and I'm pleased to say the one in my unit was well behaved and not obtrusive.

It is only two minutes walk to the supermarket, also on the High Street, if you need some groceries etc.

The Nautilus makes an excellent high standard base for day trips and activites into and around the Abel Tasman national park and it is only a short drive to Kaiteriteri and it's famous beach.

This place was lovely and clean and very close to town BUT the service was terrible. The people seemed very pedantic. On the last night my boyfriend accidentally spilled some water on the floor. We used a towel to soak it up and then after that didn't think anything of it. However, they called us after we checked out and asked us what we spilled as they said there were two large stains on the floor. We went back to the hotel to take a look at what they were referring to and you could hardly see anything at all. Also, we could not even see the second stain they said we had made, which we hadn't. We ended up having to pay $50 as they said they would have to call someone in to come and dry the water patch. This was at 10:30 in the morning and they said they had new occupants arriving very soon.
