the town did not want to feed us!
After travelling from the North of England to Pamplona, Spain, we needed an overnight stay in France. We chose Auberge de Crissay as this was on our route and thought an overnight stay involving sampling french cuisine and wine would be ideal.
Unfortunately, we arrived later than anticipated due to traffic in France on our way but we did ring in advance to warn the owners about this.
We were met by a friendly welcome, got shown to our room. We then had a very quick look round the room and went straight down to the bar/restaurant, only to be met by the locking of a door. They shut the restaurant and bar on our arrival!! Having travelled almost 12 hours we were desparate for at least a drink and a bite to eat would have been nice but we got nothing!
We then decided to try and have a look in the village if there was a small bar that we could have at least a drink. It was like an oasis in a dessert when we actually heard the sound of cutlery and glasses!! We found a tiny restaurant....but then got turned away!!! We asked if we could at least get a drink but was rudely told no.
It wasn't like we were arriving in the middle of the night. It was about 9pm , so to say we were disappointed would be an understatement and it has completely put us off staying in France again following our rude reception.
Following a 12 hour journey and staying overnight in France, I did not expect to end up eating a cereal bar for dinner :( :( :(
