“Very nice and authentic small hotel in a beautiful and romantic small French village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

A young French couple run this very friendly small guesthouse with 4 rooms. It is wonderfully situated in a very beautiful and quiet small French village, with a view of the surrounding fields. The smalll pool is very romantically situated in a garden full of flowers with a view of the ruins of a medieval castle. The rooms are rather basic but clean. The hotel also has a small restaurant/wine bar serving coffee, pie, salads, some cold French dishes and wine.

“Beautiful place....but ....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

the town did not want to feed us!

After travelling from the North of England to Pamplona, Spain, we needed an overnight stay in France. We chose Auberge de Crissay as this was on our route and thought an overnight stay involving sampling french cuisine and wine would be ideal.
Unfortunately, we arrived later than anticipated due to traffic in France on our way but we did ring in advance to warn the owners about this.
We were met by a friendly welcome, got shown to our room. We then had a very quick look round the room and went straight down to the bar/restaurant, only to be met by the locking of a door. They shut the restaurant and bar on our arrival!! Having travelled almost 12 hours we were desparate for at least a drink and a bite to eat would have been nice but we got nothing!
We then decided to try and have a look in the village if there was a small bar that we could have at least a drink. It was like an oasis in a dessert when we actually heard the sound of cutlery and glasses!! We found a tiny restaurant....but then got turned away!!! We asked if we could at least get a drink but was rudely told no.
It wasn't like we were arriving in the middle of the night. It was about 9pm , so to say we were disappointed would be an understatement and it has completely put us off staying in France again following our rude reception.
Following a 12 hour journey and staying overnight in France, I did not expect to end up eating a cereal bar for dinner :( :( :(

“Great Location and Overnight Stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2009

We booked direct with Mr Jucquois at the hotel ( [--] )
This is a great overnight stop location just south of Poitiers and much better than the 3-4* hotels on the outskirts of Poitiers. Rooms are good for families although the duplex style might be a little dangerous for small kids as the double bed is upstairs and the singles downstairs. Location is just fantastic with the old ruins directly behind the hotel, pool area and garden set nicely behind the building and panoramic views over the countryside which in July / August would be full of sunflowers ( September they are drying up a bit ) and food was very good for breakfast but the restaurant was closed on the Friday night when we stayed so best to check its open if you intend on eating in as the closest restaurant is about 16km away ( pizza ).There is also a Michelin star restaurant is about 25km in an old chateau but not so suitable for small kids.
Highly recommend this hotel as a stop if you are travelling further south the next day as its 4 hours from Caen and about 4 hours to Bergerac.
Great service and very nice people. Highly recommend.

“Good B&B at one of the most beatiful little villages of France”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2009

Very helpfull and friendly staff. The B&B is next to the ruins of a medieval castle, which gives a romantic view from the garden with swimming pool. Room is larger then usual, but needs a little more comfort (like some extra shelves and a hair dryer). Their is no airco, but we hadn't very warm temperatures, so it didn't bother. One can have some regional products to eat in the tavern downstairs. Chinon is close and has nice restaurants.
