I stayed in the Clun (top) Self Catering apartment for a couple of days. Its a nice yet quirky space, that I imagine is very cosy in the winter as it has a wood burning fire. Not good if you are easily stirred by creaking floorboard or bumps in the night! It was fine for my needs but I think I would have been disappointed if I was staying there as a special treat or on holiday. The bedroom is straight opposite a very noisy pub which doesn't quieten down till late, and the clock tower chimes every fifteen minutes throughout the night. The kitchen facilities are very poor for this standard of accommodation. It wasn't particularly clean, perhaps because it hadn't been used for a while so dust had begun to collect and there were very few kitchen utensils and a dish brush that looked like it may have been as old as the building! The electrical facilities are fine. Oven, microwave, dishwasher etc but I'd recommend bringing your own cooking equipment if you are planning having a few meals here, just to make sure you have everything. The shower is a bit of a nightmare as it is positioned on the side of the narrowest part of the bath, so its a bit difficult to angle right and the boiler is very noisy. However the bath is fine and the hot water was very efficient. There isn't a door between the bathroom and the bedroom (just a curtain) so privacy isn't very high if you are bashful. The bedroom was very clean and the bed was a bit lumpy but fine.
The television only had four channels and didn't seem to have caught up with freeview yet. There was a DVD player.
Somehow all of this adds to the quirkiness of the experience of staying here and I had breakfast with some people who have been staying there every year since it opened so it is very popular, but I'm not sure I could have stayed there for any longer than a few nights. I've decided to stay somewhere else on my next trip. The location is great for immediate access to cafes and shops, but it is probably one of the noisier locations in Bishops Castle to stay. Generally BC is a very quiet place. I'd definitely recommend trying to get a rear facing bedroom if you do stay here. It really is a very unusual place to stay!

Thanks for your review of our apartment; being an Elizabethan house it does make it an unusual place to stay and it has been creaking and groaning for over 400 years!
It is right in the town centre, great for easy access to pubs and restaurants but that can mean it is a little noisy until 11pm; 10.30pm on Sundays, when this guest was here. This is more than made up for by the fact that as the High Street is not the main route through the town it doesn’t suffer from noisy lorries and buses first thing in the morning.
You were staying as a B&B guest so we are a little surprised you were using the kitchen for cooking. It had not been used for a couple of days and we can assure you that all crockery and utensils are washed between each booking. All the surfaces are cleaned in antibacterial cleanser. The facilities provided are of 4 Star standard according to the tourism guidelines.
As for the TV, all our TV’s have digital receivers and freeview, unfortunately being in the country the transmitter won’t be upgraded until next year so no-one in Bishop’s Castle can get channel 5 or any of the newer channels.
