Stayed one week at this parador ("Tropocal Inn they call it). The rooms are average, no fancy features, TV has a few channels (1 or 2 in english), all furniture is old, the place looks old but is kept clean, meaning no crawling insects that we could see. The air conditioner worked great which is a must due to the high humidity and mosquitoes in the area. Bathroom was remodeled and adequate with the usual giveaways and clean linen. There is a small gym that nobody uses, a nice swimming pool (the highlight of the place) but no other outdoor activity areas. The premises are located by the seashore but there is no beach, not even nearby boating facilities, you have to go to Gilligan's Island for that (ask around). The dining room is better than expected, great service but food is average at best. Never ate anything other than breakfast. Our room was not ready (we got there before check-in time) but they offered us one anyway which they had just cleaned, DON'T DO THAT! They use a heavy duty cleaner with an awful smell and it takes several hours for the smell to fade away, even at night there was a strong odor, but bearable. This is by no means your standard two or three star mainland hotel, but if you are looking for reasonable rates and a location in the PORTA DEL SOL area, you are in the right place. Don't go to nearby La Parguera Inns, they are sorry over-rated places. The overall service at the Guanica Parador was great and they will try to accommodate your wishes if they can. And there is an adjacent wine & music place for adult entertainment.
