We enjoyed our stay at Parador Guanica. But note that this hotel is not for everyone. The room was spacious and clean. It was on the second floor and there is no elevator or bellhops to help with bags, which was fine with us. However, If you have trouble with stairs, ask for a ground floor room. There is a very nice swimming pool that children were enjoying. The room cost includes meals, which is good because there are not a lot of places to eat good food nearby. The food was good but the dessert flan was the worst flan I have ever eaten. They do not have a liquor license - something about being too close to the church across the street. So, if you like to imbibe, be sure to bring your own. The dining room has a dark and claustrophobic feel so we chose to eat outside on the porch. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The hotel has the ambience of bygone days. It is set on a former sugar operation of some kind and there are refurbished cane benches all around. The landscaping of the property is not manicured but interesting with some huge, old trees. At sunset, the mosquitoes came out in droves. So bring bug repellant. There is a small playground for kids. I recommend this hotel to families with kids. There was nothing to do after dinner so I wouldn't recommend this hotel to persons traveling solo.
