We have just returned from a two day stay at the Swiss Hotel in Moraira. The location would make it a boutique hotel, tucked away at the back of Moraira, with splended views, a good pool and an excellent chef. However, trying to run an hotel with a skeleton staff means that the service is poor, the staff rushed, and the overall impression is somewhat down market.
The prices are such that one would assume it to be a luxury retreat, however, the air conditioning was either swiched off or ineffective, staff were difficult to find, room service non existant (rooms were serviced only once a day, beds not turned down, etc.) lighting in the splended gardens switched on so late that everyone had already left, and so on. When we first arrived we were shown a room at the back of the hotel, overlooking the garden waste and the chickens next door-until we complained and were moved to a front room. Not a good first impression.
The breakfast buffet is run on a shoe string and there is no waiter service what so ever. The dinner food is excellent, as the chef knows what he is doing, however, the tables are poorly laid. the lighting indifferent and the overall ambiance is such that the majority of the hotel guests dine elsewhere, with due cause and reason.
Overall we were pleased that we were only there for two days!
Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room overlooking the rear gardens
