“Short Break”

We have now visited the hotel twice and we have received an excellent service. The first time whilst doing the way of the roses cycle route and then a short walking weekend on the 30th Jan 2012. The owner and staff were very helpful, the food was excellent and the new 1920's room has wonderful character.

Would definately recommend and good valur for money.

Room Tip: Speak to the owner as he will only be too happy to show off his new rooms.

“3 night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

stayed for 3 nights commencing 26th Jan and overall very good value for money. place nice and clean as are the rooms.breakfast plentifull and sets you off for a good start to the day. the staff are very friendly and always willing to help. The hotel is set in the village and within easy walking distance of the other pubs, cafes and eating places in Graasington. just be aware that 2 Fridays a month they do a disco in the bar which seems to be a great success with the locals!

“Disappointed.”

Stayed here a few times previously with the wife and have always spoken well of the place and left good reviews until now.
Went this time with friends without the wife and booked the room. To start with we were shown to a room that was already occupied then shown to another room but given no key. An hour later I went and asked for a key to be told they didn't know where it was and would look for it. So we had to remove most of our belongings before going to explore. when we returned to the place, we once again had to ask for the key and was this time given it.

Later on in the evening, we asked for another drink to be told the bar was shut. Fair enough, no issue. Until 10 minutes after going to our room, one of my friends having to return to the bar to ask them to lower the music that we could easily hear in the room and also found numerous people around the bar drinking.

Just think the service we got when the place was struggling for customers should still be in place now but now they are more established clearly standards have slipped and feel they no longer need to be as attentive.

It was the first time my friends had visited on my good feedback, they say they'd look elsewhere next time.

Personally when I return with the wife in Febuary to Grassington, I will want to book in at the Devonshire but the wife may want to return due to previous good experiences, we will see.

“Good value and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

We stayed here for a get together for our caving club's 10th anniversary on a Saturday night in November 2011. The Owner, John, did his utmost to fit us all in on a one night stay basis when the hotel generally has a 2 night policy at weekends. The pub is situated in the beautiful village of Grassington and is a great base to go walking in the area. The food and beer was good value for money with local beer on draught and the steak and ale pudding being a particular highlight. The staff who served us in the bar and restaurant were extremely helpful, efficient and courteous without being over the top and the rooms are all clean and comfortable - in fact they look like they have recently been refurbished. All in all, a good choice for somewhere to stay if you want good value for money and somewhere comfortable at a reasonable price.
