We have just returned from a couple of nights stay with Mark and Sandrine, I consider myself a very fussy critical person, but there was not one tiny thing you could critisise about La roche D'esteil, it was absolutely wonderful, the rooms are beautifully appointed , very comfortable and extremely well presented.The food was really good and the ambiance fantastic. Will definately go again and am also keen to try their gite in Sarlat as Mark assures me it is of same standard .It is so lovely to meet such a great young couple who have a passion for what they are doing and compared to anything else I have tried in france this is amazing and extremely good value for money. .Do not hesitate ring up and book!!

Friendly, helpful, accommodating hosts who went out of their way to make your stay a memorable experience. They were able to give us excellent advice, on several occasions, regarding sightseeing in the surrounding area.
The grounds were well kept, and included a pool. They were large enough to ensure all guests (4 units) had their own personal outdoor space. We enjoyed "picnic" suppers outside of our room on several occasions.
The rooms themselves were large, comfortable and quiet. There was also access to a communal lounge with TV.
The breakfasts were delicious and more than ample, with bread and homemade jams, cereal, yoghurt,dried fruit and cheese, juice, coffee and tea.
We decided to" get an early start " the day we left, and thus did not have the breakfast that day. We were surprised to find that the hosts had adjusted our bill and not charged us for that meal!

This classy "chambre d'hôte", quitely tucked away in lovely, woody grounds in the small village of Ste Nathalène, a few kilometers from the picturesque medieval town of Sarlat is an absolute gem. We stayed there for 5 nights in July 2009 but we would have loved to stay a bit longer because the place, the hosts and the atmosphere were excellent. We had the smallest room but it was still really well-apointed, stlylishly decorated and spotlessly clean. Our hosts, Marc & Sandrine were absolutely wonderful and their "table d'hôtes" was excellent. They served up some really scrumptious local dishes accompanied by tasty local wine. If you decide to have dinner at La Roche d'Esteil, make sure to leave some space for the dessert, because that's quite yummy as well.
If you are thinking of staying a few days in the Périgord, we can highly recommend Marc & Sandrine's place. This Parisian couple has fallen head-over-heels in love with the Périgord and they are more than willing to share their love and knowledge of this breathtakingly beautiful region with their guests. We stayed at la roche d'esteil this summer for a week.
Our room was really spacious and well appointed with a cosy and homely feel, we loved the decor and original sandstone walls.
We found the hosts always very friendly and attentive, Sandrine's lovely picnic baskets are a real bonus for long days out exploring the many attractions of the region.
The location particularly appealed to us, being only 10 inutes from te medieval town of Sarlat, yet in a quiet countryside location with a large garden and lovely pool to relax by.
Highly recommended, a very special place.
