Nice little hotel with great location, both tvs were staticky. The pool is nice but is like a thermal spring during day and night due to the sun.
The waitress at the second floor of the restaurant wasn't very friendly.
I like the place but I think it should cost less

This is truly a surfers dream. It is amazing place for non surfer to see such strong waves. I really enjoyed by stay and the staff was amazing.

Great location, friendly staff, and an excellent bar & grill. A great value for the money. We would definately recommend this hotel to anyone.

Playa hermosa is a short drive from the very crowded tourist spot/beach Jaco. This is a much better choice. the beach seems endless, empty and just gorgeous for long walks. Backyard Hotel a very reasonable choice, location great. We stayed upstairs in a very spacious room with kingsize bed and bunk bed, so for families this would be perfect. Breakfasts are served in the bar/restaurant next door, which can be hit or miss. Stick with the specials they offer and don't try any mixed drinks, they are expensive and no good but local beer is cheap. Our room faced the small but very cute pool and we had a great view of the ocean, it is RIGHT on the beach. Definitely recommend. BEWARE of ocean, it is a great spot for surfers but riptides are strong and we have heard several horror stories of people getting lost at sea, i nearly got caught in one of those. This is not just there but all the beaches along the pacific. Just be prepared and don't go in the water without a board or when waves are high. Waist deep is too deep.
