We were overcharged and did not realize it until we got home. The owner admitted it but refuses to give us the $800 back that we were overcharged. Credit card company wont help because it's international. Do Not Stay here

This was a great trip. The hotel was great and the food was excellent. Greg, Nadine and Aaron were the best! Greg has the experience and knows where the best waterfalls, whitewater rapid trips and canopy tours are. He can give you any information that you need and is very accomodating. We traveled with another family with older children and everyone had a great time. I would highly recommend this hotel and we will all be back next year.

The Westmorelands and the Farrells

My boyfriend and I stayed here back in July of 2008. We were happy with the hotel until we got back home to the U.S. to see that instead of being charged $98 USD for our one night stay, we were charged $980. An extra zero was added to the bill. I admit I am partially at fault for signing the sales receipt, (I was in a hurry and overlooked the currency conversion.) The owner of the hotel Greg admitted to the mistake both over the phone and through emails, but I am still fighting for the money to be returned and my bank is not backing me. Greg claims that he can't just credit the card right back through the machine, which is a total lie--- If you can charge the card, you can credit the card. He also states that the banks in Costa Rica do not 'work the same way.' Basically the guy is screwing us. DO NOT stay here unless you want to be ripped off. If so, pay cash. Who knows how many times this guy has gotten away with this.

Let's keep it short:
It is a beach front hotel at one of the best surf spots in Costa Rica - perfect located!
The rooms are very nice & clean with cable TV, air condition, hot water.
They opened a new restaurant two weeks ago - try the Caribean style of the filet mignon - yummmieh :)

Since you have arrived you will feel like home because Greg (the owner) and his stuff are extremly friendly and polite.

It is a really great place to stay and if we come back to Costa Rica - I am pretty sure we will come back to the Sandpiper Inn.
