“Amazing food!!”

If you have not tried the new restaurant "The Green Room" , then you are missing one of the nicest surprises in Playa Hermosa. Sunday brunch features huge apple pancakes, fresh tuna steak, typical fare and the best,,,real Eggs Benedict, shirred eggs with a homemade hollandaise sauce on a whole wheat muffin, served with fresh out of the oven banana, strawberry bread. Try it today,,and, the chicken cheese melt is one of the best I have had. Take it from the locals, we know what is good!!!

“Excellent rooms and host”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

The Sandpiper is a great experience. Really nice and clean rooms with access to the beach less than fifty feet from the farthest room. A great little cabana fronting the beach with hammocks and a beautiful view to sit and relax. Greg, the owner is super nice and very helpful with arrangements or questions. They have just opened a restaurant (The Green Room) on the premises that looks fantastic. Beautiful beach and great spot to watch the sunsets.

“Great beach hotel, great owner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

My wife and I spent 8 nights (5 at start and 3 at end of trip) at the Sandpiper. What a great place it is!!! A real beach hotel, our room was 30 feet from the sand with a great view. Rooms are quite nice, not luxurious but clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The "vibe" of the hotel is what makes it the best choice in Playa Hermosa and it all starts with the owner. The owner, Greg, is a great, but laid back, host. Brings you coffee in the morning, goes surfing with you, knows everything about the area from restaurants, horseback riding etc., takes you into town when you want to go, even did a load of laundry for us!! Really cool palapa right on the beach where we and other guests would hang out for morning surf report, lunch, book reading, email checking, evening beers or cocktails. Even if you are not a surfer, great beach for long walks and beautiful sunsets. We will go back and we highly recommend the Sandpiper!!

Room Tip: The two best rooms are the two oceanfront. Great view, ocean waves to sleep by and less than 20 step...

“Sandpiper Inn, the Surf Hotel and Relaxing place to be....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

If you ever need a traditional Costa Rica Surf experience, call Greg Miller. I have known Greg for about 30 years from my cycling/bike racing days and the local Seal Beach area. He owned a local bike shop in Seal Beach and now spends much of his semi-retirement here in CR. He is a straight shooter and turned out to be a great tour guide as well. Let him set up your CR experience and you'll quickly see the time and money saved by him knowing the inner workings of the area and businesses local to Jaco, Playa Hermosa and CR in general. Quads runners, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, site seeing and surfing to mention just a few. He's a guy with a world class cycling background including the US National and Olympic team as well as many years in the Tour De France as a mechanic and team assistant. His former team mates and arsenal of cyclist friends dating back over the years are very impressive.— Highly recommended place to stay, relax, surf, hide, sleep or whatever. You're in a beautiful country, what more can one ask for.

Room Tip: Book early for rooms facing the beach or choose from others near a small pool or tropical trees...

Our family just spent 9.5 days in Costa Rica and most of them were spent at The Sandpiper. I can't begin to explain what an awesome experience we had! Greg and Aaron are phenomenal "hosts" and the place is beyond BEAUTIFUL and RIGHT on the beach. We were traveling with our Autistic/special needs child and this provided a perfect, nonstressful, peaceful place for him to relax and enjoy himself. I would HIGHLY recommend The Sandpiper for your stay in this part of Costa Rica. You will not be disappointed.
