My wife and I stayed at Faneromeni Apartments for four nights in August. The place was difficult for us to find. We caught a bus from Kamares (the port) to Platy Gialos. When we got to the tiny beach resort town of Platy Gialos it was already getting dark. Faneromeni Apartments are a few blocks away from the beach where most of the tavernas and hotels are. After rolling our luggage down some dirt roads and into a few private residences, we were guided by a friendly neighbor to the apartments, which we had passed by once already. (the sign on the gate is in Greek) If you booked this place through a travel agent, ask them to draw you a good map to show you how to find it.
The property itself is nice and new and the price was very reasonable. It was very clean and had a nice view of the beach and the olive groves. The shower was kind of small--it was one of those where there is no separation between it and the rest of the bathroom. The nearby tavernas--a pleasant five-minute walk away-were open late (1am) even on the Tuesday night when we arrived. The whole atmosphere of Platy Gialos is laidback and all of the people were very friendly. Sifnos is a beautiful island, and Faneromeni is a pretty good place to stay.
