“Niriedes was absolutely perfect for us.”

We enjoy a more quiet, tranquil location so Niriedes Hotel was perfect for us. Being about 10 km or 15 minutes from the main town of Apollonia some might find it a bit out-of-the-way but for those who are looking for peace and quiet, it is ideal.

Our superior room was clean, bright and spacious, impeccably decorated. There was a separate bedroom from a second room that had both a kitchenette (dishes, glassware, cutlery, fridge, sink, stovetop etc.) and a sitting area leading to a narrow terrace with a spectacular view of the harbour and hills beyond.

Thanasis, the owner/manager was always available and very helpful, with suggestions of tavernas, beaches, both convenient and isolated, churches, viewing points etc. One particularly great suggestion was the nearby (3 km) taverna Lebesis. Located at the waters edge, looking out to two beautiful churches situated on rock promontories my wife described Lebesis as the most romantic restaurant she has ever been to ... an observation with which I agree. Imagine spending an afternoon on a nice sandy beach, swimming in the warm Aegean, and then walking only a few steps to a wonderful open air taverna for a meal of superb Greek food - it doesn't get any better.

We spent four days on Sifnos, about the right amount of time. We saw the entire island, from the pretty harbour/village of Heronissos in the north, to Kameras, the port on the west coast, to the medieval cliff-top village of Kastro hugging the sea in the east, to numerous beaches and look-offs in between. We also spent time on Folegandros and Milos, and while each are certainly worth a visit, of the three islands our favourite was Sifnos.

Breakfast at Niriedes is great. A wide selection of pastries, coffee, juice, yoghurt (with fresh fruit or nuts and honey), Sifnos cheese, feta and tomato etc. can all be enjoyed overlooking the bay, beach and village of Platis Yialos.

Niriedes Hotel is well designed as it 'climbs' the hillside with spectacular views. A small, but perfectly located pool provides opportunity to relax. The hotel, accentuated by colourful flowers, is tastefully decorated, with fresh bright colours and interesting artwork, courtesy of Thanasis' wife. Niriedes was a wonderful place to spend our time on Sifnos, a small (nine rooms I believe) boutique hotel we highly recommend.

“Probably one of the best hotels at Sifnos!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

We followed the tripadvisor recommendation and we were completely satisfied!

Everything had been prepared in the right way by Thanos the owner (rental car etc.). He gave us very nice recommendations for restaurants and beaches!

The setting of the hotel is really nice especially in the morning: we enjoyed the breakfast with fresh patisserie from Thanos father in law!!!

We will come back!

“Good hotel in a stunning location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

We stayed here for 7 days in June during a very hot spell (30C+) making the air conditioning very welcome indeed. Prior conversations with the owner Thanos, ensured that a hire car was ready at the port in Kamares on our arrival, late in the day. Maps provided got us to Platy Gialos, but phone calls helped us get to this hotel perched on the hillside facing west over the beautiful bay. We stayed in an apartment consisting of a double bedroom with small balcony , and a large loungeroom containing a dining area and kitchen corner. Windows faced in three directions getting the coolest breeze possible. A large uncovered balcony off the loungeroom had a spectacular view but was incredibly hot in the middle of the day. Breakfast was exceptional with beautiful greek yoghurt, fresh fruit, more pastries than you can eat, plus the possibilty of a cooked breakfast all on the balcony. The owners are always on site and available, even extending to helping us change a flat tyre!! The units have been beautifully decorated by the owners wife, with exceptional marble bathrooms. The bed was comfortable. The hotel is built cascading down a hillside with the entrance at the bottom, necessitating quite a few steps to reach the top apartment. Would definitely return. Sifnos is a charming, traditional Cycladic island with many interesting villages and good Greek food. We don't understand why this hotel is listed under B&Bs and not under hotels!!

“Excellent new hotel/suites, great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

This new hotel/suites has been created with great taste and nothing has been left to chance. Owned by a young couple that are ready to assist with all yr needs. Great restaurant, delicious breakfast served - enjoy every moment overlooking the Aegean Sea. They have a great website too. Definately going back there.

“Quiet and beautiful”

You find the apartments right at the beginning of the village in a stunning location overlooking small marina in platys galos bay.
Thanos and his wife were very friendly and helpful in providing tips for the island. we stayed in Flat 7 which was a one bed apartment which was spacious, beautifully decorated with lots of lovely touches, exceptionally clean and two balconies overlooking the marina. It was very quiet and peaceful and a great place to simply unwind and relax.

Recommended for adults wanting to relax in this scenic location. Our favourite restaurant was located in the tiny fishing village at the northern tip of the island. Advisable to hire a car to get around the island. Sifnos is very popular with Greeks in the summer, the island is an upmarket location and we highly recommend these apartments. We wish Thanos and his lovely wife much future success....
