I've been at Doral Resort for 4 nights. Rooms are comfortable (need some cosmetic renovations, though, and the showers are bad). Service is great. Staff polite. Golf and spa facilities very nice (overpriced spa treatments). Restaurants are nice and they have a sort of starbucks branch that is very convenient. The only problem is the distance to Miami main areas (20/30 minutes whithout traffic). I enjoyed my stay.

I went down for a golf weekend with some friends.
Guys, golf, cigars.
I don't think it could have been a bad weekend.
The hotel grounds are huge and spacious. Tropical and lush. Golf-centric but with plenty of pool and non-golf stuff to go around.
The hotel was slightly dated, but still very nice comfortable and clean.

Stayed here last week. For a Marriott property, it certainly didn't live up to the Marriott standards when comparing rooms for prices paid. I paid $259/night plus taxes, parking, internet which was a conference special rate.

Here were a few of the problems I encountered:

There was no water pressure in shower.
The Hair dryer had no power to it and was really cheap.
Carpet was worn.
End of bed cover was dingy and stained with spots.
Parking was far from rooms -- had to take a golf cart and pay for self parking. Double the cost if want valet parking.
It is a very tired property and dated furniture and furnishings in rooms.
The conference center was updated, but rooms need a lot of help.
Service in the restaurant that served breakfast was extremely slow.
There was no pen in the room and no full length mirror.
Nowhere to walk to -- need to eat at resort if you don't have a car or want to take a taxi.

Additionally, internet is 12.95 per day

I was here for a conference and had no free time to golf, so can't judge the golf facilities which this resort seemed to be all about.

My room was huge.

Overall I was extremely disappointed.

















If you have to go to a conference for work, this was a nice place to go. When you google maps the location, you think that only being 10 miles from the airport may not be a good thing, but actually the resort is very nice. Yes, you can see planes heading for Miami International, but never heard a plane at night and since I was inside most of the time, it never bothered me. Spent four days at the resort for a conference and the thing that makes any conference tolerable is the food. We had very good food. The food was fresh and there was plenty of choices from vegan to gluten free. Very accommodating.

The service was very good. All staff greeted me anywhere I went and if there was a problem they solved it very quickly. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.

I do not play golf, but I did enjoy the exercise room which had very nice equipment and was well maintained. The golfers in our group said the golf course is PGA rated and challenging and they enjoyed having a chance to play on it. I did not get a chance to enjoy the pools, but they looked very inviting as there is an adult pool only and a more kid friendly pool towards the front of the property. The spa at the Doral is pretty nice. It's affilitated with the Pritikin center and the facilities were clean and serene. The minute I was let go of all our meetings I walked straight to the center to book a massage and they were able to accommodate me that evening. After a few questions, they booked me with an exceptional therapist and I was pain free after 4 days of sitting.

Very nice place even if you aren't a golfer. Good for kids too.
