I would have to say from the start that this was my very first hotel in China. I didn't know what to expect, but I didn'ti expect to be staying in a five star hotel that was a good 200 km away from Shanghai. I couldn't imagine there being enough going on here to support such a hotel. This hotel, however, is huge, and the night I stayed there, it seemed to be pretty full.
The rooms are very modern with lots and lots of different types of lights (sconces, pot lights, table lights, floor lights, etc.) The rooms are quite clean, and there were some standard ammenities such as bathrobes, slippers, toothbrush, combs, etc. that were a nice touch. A breakfast is included, which consisted of a huge buffet with both western and eastern choices, ans well as lots of choices of vegetarians and non-veg alike.
I will say, however, that the actual bed was pretty hard, and not comfortable at all...my worst night sleep. There are a number of staff available throughout that speak English, so even us non-Chineses speakers can get by. Again, completely unexpected.
