“Lovely stay, good birding”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We had a lovely stay in late November--cottage, food, and area birding were excellent. This is a wonderful place if you value quiet, clean air, and enjoying nature.

Only criticism is that we had to speak repeatedly and--finally--very pointedly to manager to get him to follow through on maintenance issues. We arrived to find water dripping into a bucket right near the bed from a water heater--workers' first attempt at fixing it resulted in a cold shower next morning. Workers onsite were capable of fixing it--manager simply didn't check their work. We also had to follow up re electrical issues.

Room Tip: Eagle's Nest cottage had excellent views of mountains

“Rural idyll”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

Super views, lovely rooms and a warm welcome. if this was not enough there is the amazing experience of the village walk. Our 3 day expedition made us puff and pant at times but was well worth it. it gave a real insight into the life of local people. Our guide and porters were obviously proud of their region wanting to share their knowledge of the culture, flora and fauna.

Kalmatia will be long remembered for it's beautiful accommodation and it's thoughtful service and the flasks of coffee delivered to your room at no extra cost.

“Kalmatia Sangam- A Safe Haven”

Kalmatia Sangam was more than we could've asked for on a 4 night trip to Almora. The hotel and the view is picturesque and well complimented by the friendly and humble staff. Early morning walks around the property help you connect with yourself and offer fresh air and a healthy atmosphere for your loved ones and children. The owner is a very gracious person and attended to our needs.

All in all, if you want to run away from the hustle of metropolitans and the crazy heat, this is the place to be.

“in the lap of nature”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

We received a very warm welcome here. The rooms had fantastic views and, reasonably big, had everything we needed. Everything was spotless and the owners/managers could not have been more helpful. The rooms are very well planned as none of them look into each other and most of them look out to Himalayas. Food was nice, nothing extra ordinary but surely well served. We were two couples with 2 kids each and a maid. The whole idea was to sensitize our kids (aged between 2 and 5 yrs) to Nature. The trekking and Nature walk inside Binsar wildlife was a Cherishable experience for our kids. We also went for optional 'Village home stay' and stayed there for one night. i have to strongly suggest this to all, it was an out of the world, awesome experience. All in all, a very pleasant break and created a new bond with my kids, thanks to kalmatia and village guys.

“A real Himalayan Experience”

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Kalmatia Sangam and cannot rate it highly enough. the staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating. The rooms had wonderful views and the air was mountain fresh.

I did the Village Walk and was inspired by the poeple I met and the things I saw along the route. This is a wonderful experience for old and young alike with rewarding walks, beautiful views and comfortable places to stay. It is not a 5* experience, but one that will remain with you for a long time.
