“Good Time for Vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

A week at Emerald was fabulous and a great vacation time.
Mostly all facilities are available and the staff is good & helpful too. The place also provides camping, cycling, books,TV etc. The place also boast of a green house which houses vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, capsicums etc.
I would recommend Emerald Trail for people who looking for secluded vacation spot ,its like a world away from the world.

Lovely place, great hosts and staff. Awesome food and the homestay has all the amenities one look for in a hotel/resort. Its a huge place with wonderful gardens, organic farms, grrenhouse, ground for tenting, cycling, etc. You can freely roam around the entire property and it has beautiful shots to capture. Also a pet-friendly place and house pets too... All in all - Paisa vasool holiday.

“great adventure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

Emerald trail is a comfy home stay place with excellent and helping staff. But if someone is afraid of going too high in hills, this could be your Dare. Built 10 kms uphill near bhimtal, it has all amenities and comfort one would require on a great relaxing weekend.

“Our first Family Holiday with our pets Scooby and Whiskey !!”

We found the place while surfing through the net. We have been searching for such a place like this for a long time. We badly needed a holiday and always wanted to take our pets along with us.

Although we were very excited about the trip to Emerald trail, Bhimtal we had to postpone the same as our son was down with jaundice.

After getting the green signal from the doctor we made our trip.....It was a long and tiring journey...although we had a big car...our dogs were travelling such a distance for the first time.

On reaching Bhimtal, Sumith was kind enough to guide us up through the winding roads where the mist was playing hide and seek with the hills around.

We had taken two rooms..one at the ground floor and one on the first floor. The view from Emerald trail was absolotely breathtaking. It was just the same that we saw on the pictures sent to us by Sumith.

We were greeted by the cute and lovable pets which belonged to the place. It was a real pleasure seeing that our pets were easily welcomed by the pets at Emerald Trail.

The rooms were very cosy with good lighting and very soft beds with lovely silky sheets. The toilets were slightly small but very clean.

The service provided by the staff at Emerald trail was excellent. The simplicity of the local people came through in their smiles and expressions. We were traeted like royal guests and specially my pets.

The food was just like home...served hot and layed out on the table beautifully. The only hitch is that we were quite tired of eating chicken everyday. I suggest there should be a mix variety of nonvegetarian food vailable on different days.

I want to mention the fact that the food provided for my pets were exactly the way I serve them at home as both are very fussy with their diets.

My children enjoyed the freedom and took hikes and also cycled down to the river with the caretaker, Lalit of Emerald trail. They also loved the Archie comics and the various books available in the Library.

My son and husband shared some games of carrom in the mornings while my daughter and I visited the different lakes and did a little bit of shopping. The Kumaon jams and pickles are very tasty, we carriedc home a few bottles.

Being a lover of Art...We visited the Art Emporiums located in the region and picked up some beautiful hand painted bags and small momentos. I also did two pastel landscape sketches while relaxing in the front verandah and the small terraced patch in the garden.

We loved the Green House and the Organic Garden. It was clear that a lot of effort had gone into making such a beautiful garden where each and every vegetable wasd available. I would specially mention the tasty cucumber whicjh was a part of the salad every day.

It was a pleasyre seeing the cows and the little chicks. One of the cows responded every time I took a picture of him.

We are great nature lovers. So the surrounding gardens with the lovely flora a nd fauna was a real treat for the eyes. Early morning some rare birds are also visible.

The location is so good that one can see the Sunrise and the Sunset just sitting in the garden.

There are some lovely places to visit. A tourist should not miss the boat rides at Bhimtal and the River crossing at sat Tal. The Christian Mission at Sat Tal is a must visit. The peace and serenity of the place gives a truly unique experience.

We were lucky to experience the rains at bhimtal. The sound of rain on the asbestos roof on the first floor which someone should not miss.

I can just go on and on......still missing emerald Trail and hope to go back again. We have a huge circle of friends and we have already spread the word of this great Holiday spot.

Room Tip: The largest room is the best for comfort and view.

“Family visit enjoyed at Emerald Trail”

The team at your place is excellent, very hospitable and polite. It was so good to hear from the children that it was the best holiday they have had. They were able to play, cycle around and do their own things at your large property. The other members of the group also had a great time and we were all able to spend quality time together. I was impressed that you have made optimum use of your land by growing vegetables, keeping buffaloes for milk etc which probably makes it self-sufficient. Use of solar power and plans for rainwater harvesting is really excellent. It would bi nice to have a system of using waste water for gardening etc. which would really enhance your contribution to make the property environment friendly. I wish we had planned a longer holiday but as they say there’s always a next time.
