I normally stay in the Park - but the prices (the exchange rate is a real headache for us poor Brits living and working overseas) as we see fit not to join the Euro (perhaps we should adopt the US $) there are now prohibitive - the equivalent of almost £200 for a night plus breakfast in a small parochial German town – I think not.

The Stadt is near by, has underground parking for a few cars and is well kept albeit dated. The room was warm, though the quilt was far too thin and I slept with my coat on the bed!! My colleague did not have a coat and did not have a warm room either. Shower and bathroom all very good, spacious and spotless.

Dinner was surprisingly good – but at £40 expensive – I can eat better in London really … and this is most definitely not London.

Breakfast was adequate – good choice of teas – less good choice of food. But better than the equivalent in central London and far better than the UK provinces – breakfast in the average UK hotel is never up to much and is always very expensive.

Overall my stay with meals and parking cost around Euro 130 – value for money – perhaps not considered in £. But pretty average for Euros. I would stay there again – but would much prefer the Park.

Arrived with a confusion over booking (my fault) which staff very quickly and efficiently sorted out. I was given a lovely room, clean and well-furnished and received attentive support and service from the staff. Hotel manageress is an absolute diamond and couldn't do enough to help. The breakfast was outstanding and while there I availed myself of the excellent sauna on the 5th floor. Would stay again tomorrow and recommend to anyone.
