“Late season stay”

We booked a stay at Creta Blue towards the end of the season, in October. We found our suite prettily decorated, clean, well supplied, and adequately furnished, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful views of the infinity pool and the Mediterranean sea from our balcony. The access lane to the hotel from the village is a little narrow but this is soon forgotten when one meets the hotel owners. George, the young manager, could not have been more helpful, taking time and trouble to solve any problems we encountered on our holiday. The whole family, and their staff, were warm and friendly and we enjoyed sampling Elene's excellent cooking in the poolside restaurant. A true family hotel – a lovely place to stay while one explores the island of Crete.

“Great views if you have the right room!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

Upon arrival at Creta Blue, my wife and I were initially dissapointed with the room that we had received, as we were expecting a large private balcony with a great view of the sea, based on our upgraded room package. The large balcony on our floor, was open and shared with the room next door, and the second private balcony off the bedroom, was on the side of the hotel with little to no view. When we asked at the front desk if we could change rooms, we were told that George was not at the hotel, therefore we couldn't make a change until he returned. This proved frustrating, since we wanted to settle into our room, but no one was at the hotel who could make a decision. Once we met George, we were advised that our room was one of the largest in the complex, and used primarily for honeymooners. We opted to stay in the room, and we did enjoy the open space. It would have been nice to have a large private balcony facing the sea, but since they don't exist at this hotel, apparently we had the next best thing. It was nice that the guests in other room who we shared the balcony with, did not come out on the large balcony, otherwise it would have been a negative experience for two people on their honeymoon expecting privacy.

We ate at the hotel restaurant one night and I absolutely LOVED the beef medallions.

Koutouloufari was a wonderful small town. We found the "bigger" part of the town, by walking down one of the side roads, which kept on going and going. Lots of restaurants to choose from and little stores to shop.

Hersinossos was an ok town. We walked up and down the streets one day, but never bought anything. Much of the same in the stores. I'm glad that we opted to stay up the hill in Koutouloufari, rather than in Hersinossos. The walk up the hill from the town was about 20 minutes. The first 15 minutes are ok, but the last 5 minutes are quite steep.

The negative experience at this hotel was on our last day, when we were up early in order to catch a taxi to the port. There was no hot water, therefore showers were nearly impossible.

“A beautiful and Relaxing place to stay”

We stayed at the Kreta Blue Suites in September. The suites were as described on the website ; nicely presented, clean and comfortable. The relaxed family atmosphere provided by George and his family made the experience one to remember and they were on hand to provide help and advice on places to visit and eat throughout the day and night.

The family run restaurant offers a great selection with regular special menus which encourages all guests to socialise and the prices were reasonable for such a lovely setting and menu. George even recommended a meze restaurant in the next village which is within walking distance which was so good and cheap (used by the locals which is a good indication of the quality) that we went there two nights in a row.

Koutoulafari is a quaint village with a number of eateries but there are more in the next village is you want to venture out, if not, the selection at Kreta Blue is more than ample for your stay and Herinossis is within stumbling distance.

If you are not into walking up a hill, a scooter or car is recommended but after all the lovely food and lazing by the beautiful infinity pool overlooking Heronissis and the sea, a bit of exercise doesn't go amiss.

In in all, a great place to relax, lovely surroundings with really friendly people.

PS. If you want to go scuba diving be prepared to see nothing but rocks as all the fish has been fished!

“Nice hotel run by a very friendly and helpful family”

We have stayed for 2 weeks at the hotel. Upon arrival the room was a little bit different than we saw on the pictures and with no view. We asked George from the hotel if there was another room available with a better view available. After an hour we could move to another room which was exactly what we wanted. The service of the hotel was great, they were very friendly and are a good source of information about what to do in Crete. The breakfast was good, and although we have only have diner once in the restaurant the food very good. The pool was a bit cold, but nevertheless it felt good to swim there. Probably because we were off season (october) the weather was a bit colder than usual. The village Koutouloufari is very small and cozy, an excellent place to get some rest from your busy life. It's an easy stroll from the hotel to the little shops and restaurants from Koutouloufari. The walk to Chersonisoss is a bit further (15min walk) also when going back you have walk slope up so, but for average people not really an effort. My girlfriend and I had a great stay in Creta Blue an can highly recommend it. The only downside is if you are not able to walk very well then the hills might be some challenge.

“fantastic experience”

We have just returned from spending a wonderful relaxing week at Creta Blue. George, his family and all his staff could not have been more accomodating, always willing to go that extra mile. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. All the food we had was freshly prepared and extremely yummy!
We wish George and his family every success in the future and are sure we will return to visit soon.
