Upon arrival at Creta Blue, my wife and I were initially dissapointed with the room that we had received, as we were expecting a large private balcony with a great view of the sea, based on our upgraded room package. The large balcony on our floor, was open and shared with the room next door, and the second private balcony off the bedroom, was on the side of the hotel with little to no view. When we asked at the front desk if we could change rooms, we were told that George was not at the hotel, therefore we couldn't make a change until he returned. This proved frustrating, since we wanted to settle into our room, but no one was at the hotel who could make a decision. Once we met George, we were advised that our room was one of the largest in the complex, and used primarily for honeymooners. We opted to stay in the room, and we did enjoy the open space. It would have been nice to have a large private balcony facing the sea, but since they don't exist at this hotel, apparently we had the next best thing. It was nice that the guests in other room who we shared the balcony with, did not come out on the large balcony, otherwise it would have been a negative experience for two people on their honeymoon expecting privacy.
We ate at the hotel restaurant one night and I absolutely LOVED the beef medallions.
Koutouloufari was a wonderful small town. We found the "bigger" part of the town, by walking down one of the side roads, which kept on going and going. Lots of restaurants to choose from and little stores to shop.
Hersinossos was an ok town. We walked up and down the streets one day, but never bought anything. Much of the same in the stores. I'm glad that we opted to stay up the hill in Koutouloufari, rather than in Hersinossos. The walk up the hill from the town was about 20 minutes. The first 15 minutes are ok, but the last 5 minutes are quite steep.
The negative experience at this hotel was on our last day, when we were up early in order to catch a taxi to the port. There was no hot water, therefore showers were nearly impossible.
