“You never have to leave!”

DH and I have visited Laguna Mar twice and loved it both times. The checkin process was a bit confusing because this is a large resort. We checked in at one tower the first time and did not like our room. Immediately, we were moved to the other tower and upgraded to a suite. I was hesitant about the all-inclusive aspect, but it proved to be just fine. We liked the buffets and also the ability to eat at the specialty restaurants with a reservation. The Italian restaurant was very good. It gives one a chance to get into smart casual clothes. My hubby loved the swim up bars. He is an excellent tipper and got excellent service. Some of the other guests were miffed that he would tip. He kept right on tipping. The place is huge and you will do a lot of walking. The beach is lovely at night, and the paddleboats are fun during the day. We rented a car and drove to Porlamar, but the rental was not necessary as they have mini buses making several trips a day. Again, there are lots of Europeans there and few Americans. We enjoyed that aspect and had many wonderful chats. Certainly would go again.

Room Tip: Make sure that your room is clean and if not, keep badgering the front desk. You will get upgraded...

“Excellent all inclusive deal!!”

Package:
I booked with Phill Tours and their service was excellent. I went Margarita for Mothers day weekend. When I arrived at the airport in Margarita, Phill had his people present all the mothers with a fresh rose. This was surprising to us all and well appreciated by all mothers. We were then transported to the hotel where we checked in. The hotel check in time is 3PM and check out is 12 noon. Some rooms were ready about 9.30AM when we got there and we were allowed to go to the rooms. Some people had to wait. But as soon as the room was ready we got them.Phill also arranged late check out for us. So we were allowed to check out at 3PM instead of 12 noon.We were given breakfast from the time we got there. Well done Phil Tours!

Krystal tours I'm still waiting for you to call me like you said.

Money:
Phill Tours really assisted us with this and made the process easy. The exchange rate was $8 bolivars to one US$

Hotel Grounds & Pools-Very clean and well manicured lawns. The pools are also well maintained and there are lifeguards on duty.It was fun to go in all the pools as well as the Jacuzzi-es.The only drawback is that the pools close at 5PM. The wave pool which I looked forward to was not operational

Hotel Rooms/bathrooms-The bedrooms are quite spacious and clean. They have kettles, mini fridges and flat screen TV's.The furniture is not brand new but OK. The bathroom however has some age since the bathtubs are rusting and could do with an upgrade. There are no irons. I don't know how you go about getting your clothes pressed. The majority of the staff do not speak English so it was difficult to inquire. There were minor repairs to the walls going on at the time

Hotel Staff-Not warm or friendly. Only a very few can understand and speak English

Food-Excellent. The widest variety of food I ever saw at a hotel. There are 6 restaurants! and I cannot complain about the taste either. There are many fresh fruit juices and salads as well as an array of food. The bars serve nice alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks..Make sure to have dinner at the Italian & Mexican restaurants. You have to make reservations when you reach. The Italian restaurant serves a 3 course meal and has a very elegant style. The grill food restaurant on the beach is fantastic and the pizza/burger hut is excellent!

Beach-clean and scenic but can be rough sometimes

Lagoon-great for water sports

Useful tip from TripAdvisor member-Trini's carry your pepper sauce :)

Shopping-Go to The Bolivar, but shop around for deals. The flea market and mall is more expensive. And be careful if you are wearing expensive jewelry

Island-The country is not as developed as some Caribbean countries

Nightlife-There is a disco on the premises. In the night they showed a movie but it was in Spanish. There was a live show with singing and dancing and to my surprise it was an excellent mix of music that incorporated Spanish and English songs.

Tip to travelers: a few useful Spanish words or phrases would help:
Hola- Hello
Gracias-Thank you
Buenas Dias-Good morning
No hablo Espanol-I do not speak Spanish
Hablas Ingles-Do you speak English
Agua-Water
La Playa-Beach

I had a fantastic time and would definitely return to this hotel.
You should take basic toiletries such as toothpaste.
The time spent at the airport to get out was very tiring.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pool area otherwise you may end up getting a room facing the road/parking...

“Laguna Mar a great place.”

First of all I would like to say that Laguna Mar Margarita is a very great place and is my second Home and I travel there alot as you can see in my other reviews about this great resort. I returned to this hotel in February 2012 and I will be again during the year. I would to say that most of the travellers are first time travellers from Trinidad and they come to stay at this hotel. Most of the Trinidadians make the resort Terrible as in ; they take lots of the food in the restaurants and waste them; Get drunk and vomit outside the resort and they also try to steal the blankets from the hotel but that was done by one Trinidadian. Do not visit the resort around the Carnival and Easter that is when most Trinidadians travel there.I am going to share some experience in the plane. In the plane the Trinidadians will rush and sit anywhere in the plane and not in there assinged seats. I hope the Trinidadians who read this will not return to the place with their bad Habits. Other the place is very nice they have great food; great rooms and the staff is very kind. I travel with Phil Tours and I will be returning again.I look forward for another great stay.

“Disgusting, stink uneducated hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2012

Never stay here again, the most disgusting dirty very smelly rooms, not suitable for kids n family or even a romantic getaway. Was ready to return home sooner. Food was not satisfactory, tasteless and they need chefs that are trained to cook tasty meals. When u need food u couldnt get it available and too much repeats in menu. An agency like krystal tours should stop ripping people off for wasting a whole day just to travel from POS to PMV which is only 45 mins. Long hrs at the airport is not nice for babies n small children, too much suffering. Upon reaching laguna mar resort waiting 5hrs to check in n get a good bathe was a horrible experience. Like a crime scene happened in lobby bathroom and tehy covered it up with plastic sheeting in the bathtub, no shower curtain, a loud stench sickening smell from the a/c n carpet. Was sick from my short trip. Dont even think abt going on a honeymoon there, terrible. Was expecting class n service but all i got was no comprende. Krystal tours should close down business for robbing people n not having proper arrangements with the hotel. I booked a junior suite so my family can be comfortable not disgusted with small beds n pee pee rooms. I want a refund of my money from krystal tours, trinidad.

Room Tip: Go to hilton or hyatt trinidad or orlando/miami/barbados instead dont waste u time n money !!
