“k5 hotel - Levi resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We chose K5 hotel after reading reviews, so thought we would share the experience. The hotel was superb, the food was excellent with 3 course waitress service every night and the breakfast buffet having plenty of choice so you couldn't go hungry. The room was brilliant, also ideal as there were 3 of us, as it had an upstairs which had 2 single beds, a load more wardrobes and another desk, chair and table. There was also a balcony and drying cabinet. The room was cleaned every day. It also had it's own sauna which we used every day. We used the hotels own cross country equipment as we had a cross country lesson at the end of the week,
The resort is better than our previous visit to Finland when we went to Ruka. There were plenty of different types of slopes to suit all levels including a World Cup downhill run, which I had 2 goes at. Gives you a good insight into what goes on when you watch Ski Sunday.
The slopes are not at all crowded and you never have to queue for a lift.
The excursions with Inghams were not really worth the expensive price. We tried the snowmobiles in the evening. We hated it. The snow hotel was ok but you were there for 1.5 hours. We were all done in half an hour. The husky ride was good but we did the mini ride. The longer run would not have been worth twice the cost.
All in all we had a great week and will be back next year.

Room Tip: Go for the big rooms with their own sauna.

“Just about prefect.”

I am writing this from one of the bedrooms on the second floor. I wanted to put people mind at rest after this last review which I must admit worried me.

Food... The best I have had during all my trips to finland. Yes the set menu is limited however we have always found some to eat for my fussy gang. Tonight my son fancied ice cream I asked in the kitchen and they got it immediately. Breakfast has a hot and cold section. Including several types of bread, butter or marg. smoked samon, cold meats and cheese. Eggs and bacon. Cereals fruit and so it goes on. And the toaster does work all be it a tad slow. So far everything we have asked has arrived straight away. The staff are very helpful when I had problems connecting my I phone to the wifi the receptionist got her phone out to help me.

“Nice hotel let down by the food.”

My fiance and I stayed at the K5 from 1st - 8th Jan 2012.

Our room was spacious and clean (cleaned every day around mid day) and had a sauna, shower and lots of storage space. There was also a drying cupboard in the room which proved very useful. The sauna takes about 2 hours to heat up, but the hotel staff will turn it on for you if you ask, so it's ready when you get in. We also had a balcony, which saw little use apart from storage for our drinks to keep them cold!

Staff were friendly and always very helpful and, in the main, spoke good English.

pros: Good location, clean and spacious rooms and friendly staff. The hotel also has a number of cross country skis and boots, snow shoes and sleds which you can borrrow for free (didn't see any downhil equipment, but I wasn't looking for it so...) but be warned, they are limited in number and when they're gone, they're gone. There are also free lockers available to store your ski equipment, just ask at reception.

Som of the cross country trails start just outside the hotel, so you don't need to go all the way across to "zero point" to start your days skiing.

cons: food is okay, breakfast is typically continental and the toaster didn't work, but there is a variety of cereals to keep you going. Dinner is adequate if a little disappointing, choice of one soup, two mains (plus one for the kids) and one dessert. My fiance doesn't eat meat but there was usually a fish dish available. If you're strict vegeterian you're going to struggle, There is some limited salad, but it doesn't vary so will quickly become boring.

Attracting the attention of bar staff can prove more challenging than the slopes, so be prepared to wait a while between drinks. Prices in the bar aren't cheap either, be careful what you order or you might get a shock!

You also can't control the temperature in your room. We found it far too stifling on the first night so asked at reception to have it turned down, which they did without any problem. It was still a litle too warm but we chickened out of asking for a second time in case they turned it off altogether!

All in all this is a very good choice of hotel and we would use it again without fear. The food lets down an otherwise excellent service, but there are plenty of eating places in Levi - provided you don't leave it too late before looking.

Without doubt the biggest drawback for us was our fellow guests. Unruly (British) children running around the dining room unchecked and surly Russians wear thin after a bit, but you can't blame the hotel for that can you?

Room Tip: Try to get a 1st floor room. We were on the ground floor and could hear the kids above us running ar...

“Quality and comfort a step away from the Levi buzz”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The room was very spacious and even had a jacuzzi. The location is central in the Levi village, next to the tourist information centre. Nevertheless, this hotel is a short distance away from the tourist buzz of Levi and is probably quieter than many other hotels in this area.
