“Great location and hosts.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

We had a wonderful stay with Fillipo and Rachel. Their house is beautiful, the rooms are HUGE, and they had a full kitchen set-up and it was stocked with breakfast items. They welcomed us right into their home and gave us a bottle of wine that is produced on their estate (we drank it when we got home and it was amazing - also got rave reviews from our family that we shared it with). They were always available for questions, and once they knew what our general plan was, they gave us really great advice. We even met the housekeeper and grounds/maintenance worker and both of them gave us amazing advice as well. If it wasn't for everyone's input, we may have missed Siena, and that turned out to be our favorite place throughout our entire stay! There is a small train station in the town, which made it very easy to get to Florence, I'm sure you could get plenty of other places as well. We stayed after the sunflowers were harvested, but I can't imagine how beautiful it must be when they are in full bloom. Throughout our entire trip in Italy, this family and their staff were by far the most friendly and most accommodating people we met. We were very glad to have chosen this place to stay, and hope to return again for a longer period of time so we can enjoy all that they had to offer.

Room Tip: I have a feeling that all of the rooms were very nice!

“Great Villa, Wonderfull Location, Amazing Hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

We stayed with Filippo and Rachel for a week at the end of October in the main house. There is so much to say about the villa and location, but the main charm of the place are the wonderful hosts. Filippo and Rachel who own the villa, their son David, and the housekeeper Alexandra made us feel so welcome and did everything possible to make our stay fantastic.

The villa itself is beautiful with the surrounding fields and nature ideal for a nice morning or evening stroll. They even have bikes on property that we used to ride around the paths and go into town which is barely a 10 minute walk away and takes a couple of minutes by bike. Market day in Monteroni d'Arbia is on Tuesdays and we spent the morning shopping for fresh produce and my wife did some shoe and clothes shopping there. Sienna is about a 15 drive to the north and you can get to the most popular destinations in Tuscany in about 30 to 40 minutes (Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Arrezo, Voltera, Cortona, etc) .

I definitely recommend staying here and we will most certainly be coming back here!

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

It has been a while since we had hosts as friendly and helpful as these. The atmosphere was really great, and the accommodations were very comfortable. The location was also a bonus - central to Tuscany, but a little off the beaten path. Definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Il Vino was fantastic.

“A wonderful stay in Tuscany”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

We stayed for 8 nights in one of the main house apartment/suites. The apartment was very comfortable, clean and had a nice view of the countryside from our bedroom and livingroom.
We did not rent a car during our entire stay and were able to get around easily by foot, provided bicycles and bus (there is also a local train that has several Tuscany destinations but we did not use that while we were there). One of our favorite outings was riding the bicycles provided by the B & B through the hills to the little medieval villages of Radi and Ville De Corsana. Bicycling through the hills was definately good exercise to work off all the good food we enjoyed during the week. We rode through the countryside that was dotted with olive groves, vineyards, castles, old churches dating back to the 1100s!
We were also able to use the local bus system to get into Siena a couple of the days we were there and thoroughly enjoyed the market there on Wednesday, the food at Le Torre (recommended by the innkeepers), and a winery tour of San Gimaginano and the Chianti region (highly recommend, only 38 euros per person and booked through the information center on the Campo in Siena). We also took the bus to Buonconvento (a beautiful village about 10 k from where we were staying.)
The village of Monteroni D'arbia where the B & B is located is only a 10 minute walk. In the town, there is a lovely mill park with swans, grocery stores, a "pasta fresco" store where we purchased the most amazing homemade pasta to enjoy in our apartment/suite, a couple of cafe/bars, a pizzeria, banks, a restaurant, a wonderful gelato store that we frequented several times during our stay, a fabulous bakery, clothing store, garden store, everything we needed for our stay. There was also a "farmers market" set up in the village on Tuesday, which featured clothing, household items, cheeses, shoes, boots, sausages, flowers and local produce.
We enjoyed riding bikes to the next medieval town "Monte Lucianano" (less than 2 miles) and dining at the Hotel Borgo, one of our favorite restaurants during our visit to Italy. The service and food were outstanding and very reasonable.
The property of San Fabiano is beautiful and we enjoyed local cheese, bruschetta and great Italian wine in the gardens. THe kitchenette in our apartment was very well equipped and we were able to prepare breakfast and snacks with ease. There is also a very large kitchen available for guest use on the main floor.
We especially enjoyed the warm hospitality of the owners Filippo and Rachael and assistant innkeeper, Alessandra. They were very helpful in all aspects and went above and beyond what we expected!!
I highly recommend San Fabiano to other visitors looking to enjoy the culture, hidden gems, scenery, and relaxation in Tuscany that made our trip so special.

Room Tip: We stayed in Forno apartment, located upstairs, very nice! They also have a separate cottage that l...
