“Fabulous B&B, beautiful countryside and welcoming people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 April 2010

Stayed for 5 days in this fabulous B&B occupying 3 rooms. Very well situated and surrounded by stunning scenery. Great view from the dining room! Less than an hours drive from Knock airport.
Had a fantastic and very relaxing stay in this fabulous B&B. Breakfasts are fabulous and we were made to feel very welcome. Rooms are furnished to a very high standard and are very spacious. Hosts are very accomodating, friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend Lake View House highly enough, the rooms are excellent. We will be back! Many thanks. The Donovan's (Bham and Worcs).

A perfect place for a short break. Comfortable beds showers that work and one of the best breakfasts we have had.The family who run the B&B were extremely helpful with advice on places of interest and even helped with plotting a route!

“Great B&B experience with terrific amenities!!”

We stayed with Richard and Ann twice during our recent two week trip to Ireland. They're great hosts who made us very welcome from the first time we spoke with them. And when we returned unexpectedly at eight p.m. on a rainy night four nights after our original 3 night stay with them, they welcomed us like returning family - we could see they were genuinely glad to have us return to them.
We had a wonderful room with twin beds and a bathroom with a shower that rocked - it was so good I wanted to pack it up and bring it home with me. Lots of lovely touches - there were robes and slippers for guest use in the closet, free wireless internet access in the room, two pillows on each bed, lots of towels, & fresh soap daily. Separate radiators in both bedroom and bathroom allowed us to sleep cool while enjoying a toasty bathroom for morning showers. Everything was so fresh & clean. Coffee, tea and biscuits available in the room at all times. And an extensive breakfast menu with selections of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals as well as a great Irish Breakfast (which I'd recommend as Ann is a great cook!) was available to be enjoyed in a terrific dining room with a great view in which to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.
If you have the chance, dine at Hiney's pub downtown - great food at reasonable prices. We had different specials every night (beef, salmon, even a bacon (ham) steak with freshly cooked fresh vegetables on the side. Service was great and food was hot and plentiful and our Guinesses came quickly.
For sporting fans, the B&B is close to a GAA stadium with both youth and Club teams playing in it. If it hadn't been raining, on the night when a game was scheduled I would have loved to watch a game there.
This B&B is a great base in which to view a lot of the sites offered in Mayo County - whether you want to tour Achill Island (an easy day trip from here), stop by the Davitt museum (a gem with lots of historical significance) or the Natural Museum offering wonderful grounds to tour as well as a fascinating look into life in Ireland through the centuries. A stop at the Foxford Woollen Mills should mandatory for all tourists - great back story as well as a shopping opportunity if you are so inclined. Pick up a copy of the Mayo County magazine to find lots of other attractions within reach from this terrific B&B.
I can guarantee you'll be well cared for with plenty to see and do.
And when you stay with them or book your reservation - tell them Kathy & Pat from Wisconsin say hi!

“lovely hosts, clean linen and delicious breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2009

I was impressed on the onset as the hosts were friendly and helpful and gave us relevant information on what to do in the local area. The bedding was clean and we could get more clean towels on request. The breakfast was lovely. We hope to visit and stay at Lake View House in the future when visiting Western Ireland. The view are second to none and Lough Conn was within walking distance. We were all comfortable. A good place to stay with children. Really enjoyed our stay.
