My wife and I stayed here for 14 nights in October for a golfing holiday.
The golf course is excellent (very tough for high handicappers) with some of the best greens I have ever played on
Highly recommend you hire a car otherwise you are rather stuck at the hotel which although very nice is quite expensive when you eat lunch and dinner there every day. About 80/90 euros dinner for 2 with wine soon mounts up over 14 nights!!
Had the reception order us a taxi one evening to eat out in Scarperia and when we arrived at the restaurant, the driver asked for 25 euros (just a 5 kilometer trip)--clearly a thief!! I gave him 10 and sent him on his way. So, be warned, get a price before you take a cab.
Otherwise a good experience, all staff (except for the short little Maitre De) were very keen to impress, helpful and pleasant. The little Maitre De (as opposed to the tall one who was fine) was the most obnoxious and arrogant little man we have ever met---God knows how he is in this job--I suspect he will be gone before long.
The American Bar next to the restaurant is OK but with 2 G&T's for 20 Euros, a little overpriced as are the drinks in the rooms mini bar.
Take a tip and visit the local cash and carry where you can buy a very good local Chianti for 3 euros a bottle and keep a few bottles in the room. (also buy some drinking water, decant into small bottles and store them in the rooms mini fridge)
