We had a gr8 experience in Herathera and its a beautiful honeymoon destination. Specially the resort has a beautiful location although very far from Male. The service, ambience, rooms were excellent. Would like to make a special mention abt the dinner on the beach which they arranged for us gng out of the way....
The only think that one has to bother is that they dont have good vegetarian good and guys BEWARE of MAKE MY TRIP....they are a professional THUGS....they will promise many things but will not provide even half of it....As there is no Indian dinner and they didnt provide a charter plan...the flights get delayed and 4 hrs journey became a 24 hrs.

Got a nice package from Make My Trip at USD 500 pp, which I found a steal deal for Maldives. I was not at all disappointed with the resort. Comfortable rooms with seawater around 150 meters from the room. Excellent housekeeping service from Abdul - we called him atleast thrice everday as my lil kiddo used to turn things upside down in the room. Nice pool, though not a huge one. What I din like was the fact that food options were very limited. There was only one restaurant operational, that served only Indian food - we dont wanna eat Indian food for heaven's sake when we are on vacation. So overall good, would like to visit again.

P.S - Do carry sunscreen - it gets really hot and i got bad sunburns.

We stayed at the J.Resort Handhufushi / Herathera Island Resort over New Year's 2010 and it was a major disappointment. To start with, do not believe any of the advertisements on the internet as they are all dated.. Here are the facts - of the 273 villa's advertised there are only about 170 available. The others ( mostly Jacuzzi Beach villa's on the south end of the island) are in various states of disrepair. There was no stocked mini bar. The internet was hit and miss - mostly miss. Of the restaurants that are supposed to be available the only one that is open is the Kili. The Dhoni Bar / swimming pool is closed for repair and the Dhoaraa Bar / swimming pool is closed period. The staff were all very friendly . The majority of the guests were from Mumbai and the food served was Indian. I can handle one meal of Indian food but not every day. Over all the meals were substandard with the exception of the New Year's Eve Gala dinner for which I paid 100 USD and another 80 USD for my wife. We did receive one punch drink each with alcohol! The deep sea fishing boat was in for repairs and the night fishing boat was not available. The bed mattresses were very hard. The resort struggles to maintain a 3 Star rating and in most part does not succede. At the present time I would not recommend this resort to anybody. The resort is being taken over (as of Jan. 1, 2011) by a Thai business venture. Hopefully they will bring the Herathera Island Resort up to a higher standard

Hi, I just came back from herathera on 29th of december-2010. The experience was just awesome, all the staff was very nice and helpful and the best thing about them that they all keeps on smiling every moment. Specially Mr. Akku-ho (water sports), mr. Shian (Waiter) and mr. imran (reception) are very friendly with everyone. Last day of my trip was so bad, The herathera resort members have fined me 220 usd un-necessarily because they said that some paint or polish had come out from the table lying in my room, I said this mark is from the day one when I entered in the room but they not agreed with me and fined me 220 usd. I booked my trip from "make my trip" and there guide viraash and he was without knowing any facts just harrasing me to pay that fine. So guys whenever you go there just check everything and if there is some problem tell immediately to them otherwise you have to bear all the fines.
