We stayed on 1st January 2011 for one night, the last of our three Chateau stays. Lovely setting off the beaten track so really tranquil but easy to find. Room (108) was huge and appropriately decorated but they had furnished it with a white steel framed bed which looked totally out of place. The bathroom was also big with his/hers basins but the fittings were again out of place with the chateau as was the oblong shower and resin basins. All functional though and working. Lovely bar/lounge downstairs with elegant dining rooms.
Adjacent to the chateau are newer buildings with two well- renowned restaurants. Luckily, the Distillerie was closed as prices were definitely out of our league (starters from 20euros, mains from 35 euros) but Le Vasco, the other restaurant turned out some lovely food in nice surroundings. We thought breakfast at 19 euros each was a little steep so cannot really comment whether it was worth paying for as we didn't give it a try - instead we opted for a croissant and hot chocolate at a nearby boulangerie for just 5 euros - more enjoyable too mixing with the locals!
