“Divine restful stay”

We came to Gosnay and use the hotel for a reception with family and friends. The welcome in this place is so courteous and everyone seems to be doing anything to make your stay very pleasant. We occupied several bedrooms so had a good chance tosample them and everyone was absolutely delighted with their accommodation, and the restaurants choice, three on the spots is magnificent. We had a dinner for two in the chateau and 2 other meals in the others. All had their difference and were good. The cuisine in the chateau is excellent and the decor make you feel very relaxed. Its emplacement is another advantage as we live half in UK and half in France so for us a very convenient place to stop and lots to visit around. Lots of war museums and outdoors activities. The only thing missing is a swimming pool, sauna type space.

“Lovely Hotel & Good Selection of Restaurants”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

We have stayed here a few times as a convenient last night stop before heading home via the Tunnel. On our most recent visit we were upgraded to a fabulous corner room, with one king size and two single beds, lovely furnishings and a spacious bathroom with separate shower and bath. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very dark with all the curtains closed, which made for an excellent night's sleep. We were also given free breakfast and a box of chocolates. Lovely!

One of the things we really like about this hotel is the choice of three different restaurants. Whilst the Robert II is a very good gourmet restaurant, at the end of a week's eating and drinking sometimes something a little lighter is all you need. We haven't yet tried the Distillerie restaurant but we have eaten a few times in the Vasco, which serves good, fairly simple food at reasonable prices. My only small complaint would be that we were automatically given menus in English, even though we had spoken French on arrival and continued to do so throughout the meal (including ordering in French from the English menu). We were given dessert menus in French, so presumably our French passed the test!

The staff are friendly and helpful.

I'm looking forward to our next visit already.

“Ideal stop in Northern France”

I recently spent five nights here, just having a break and, as they say "chilling out".

It's an easy drive from Calais, even avoiding the Peage, and Gosnay is well signposted locally, so the Chateau is very easy to find.

Check-in was courteous and efficient and conducted in english and the receptionist showed me to my room. Although I was travelling alone, I'd booked a family room for my sole use so as to to be sure of plenty of space, and this turned out to be a spacious corner room with high ceilings, overlooking the gardens and the rear courtyard, and with a king-sized and two single beds.It proved to be very comfortable and my only complaint was that the otherwise excellent bathroom was a little dark when it came to showering and shaving.

I ate each night in the gourmet restaurant "Robert II", which was superb. The menus were well chosen, beautifully presented and professionally served, and I was well looked after by the charming staff.

This is a very comfortable hotel, with excellent restaurants, very convenient to the channel ports and I look forward to my next visit.

“TOP FRENCH CUISINE AND ACCOMMODATION WITH STYLE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

I have been 'Chateaux Hopping ' in Northern France for over two decades and have enjoyed my visits here time and time again. The welcome is always genuine and the staff very polite and efficient. The Chateaux has developed and expanded its facilities over the years due to its popularity but the main building and its first class restaurant remains classical French style with faultless service and cuisine.

The Patron takes a very personal interest in the clientele and will grace your table with a caring visit to ensure that you are pleased with your meal and the service.

From the Maitre d'hôtel, Sommelier and General Staff to the Groundsmen, all are well rehearsed and very proficient.

The rooms are clean an very well serviced and the grounds are a delight.

This venue get my vote for the top Chateaux in the province.

“Perfect Eurotunnel stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We have used this hotel on annual trips to France for years and this year used it both North and South bound 2 weeks apart. Lovely old chateau although the rooms do vary considerably. We had 125 both times this year which was spacious and had a large very good bathroom.

Dinners do also vary and I sometimes feel that they are trying too hard for star status. On our southbound journey we were tired so opted for the "Distillerie" bistro. Good value food with excellent fois-gras, sole and kidneys, whilst on the return we used the "Robert 11" restaurant. I had the hot fois-gras, my wife crab, then lobster for my wife and again veal kidney for me. It was good but not great, although service was excellent. WE resisted the huge desert trolley, succombed to the trolley of sweets which seemed superfluous and enjoyed some good wine.,

In short this is a perfect stopover, 50 miles south of Calais and 3 miles of the Bethune Motorway exit. Safe parking outside reception. We have tried alternatives but have yet so find anywhere as convenient with good food.
