“wonderful place , but bad reception”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011 via mobile

my husband and I have been on tour with our motobike and have choosen this manoir like other charming places we have been during our tour.
the hotel is really nice, the bedroom great, parc and swimming-pool wonderfull - only deception the reception. as we arrived on the afternoon and were quite tired we didn't want to look for a restaurant outside. we asked so for a reservation for the evening and on our surprisr the lady on the front desk just looked at us telling there were no place and nothing to eat for us. Are we speaking of a 4 star hotel or a motel round the corner or was it just because we are bikers and not jaguar- travellers?

“Simply perfect:)”

We spent a week at the Manoir with our two-years old boy to have a relaxed holiday in-between our yoga summer stages. It was the right choice! The place is beautiful: a noble and well preserved country manor, with a magnificent parc à l'ancienne around it. Being an architect, I was delighted to see how the original structure of the house has remained untouched, even the beautiful Venice style terrazzo floors, or the colored glass windows of the orangerie... Rooms are spaceful (we could both practise our yoga in the room with a baby jumping here and there:)), finely decorated, the bed is just a dream (large, soft enough, feather pillows...), bathroom is large enough to skate in, both tube and shower, laundry is impeccable...
The restaurant is delightful. French cuisine of high quality, with good wines and magnifiques desserts.
The service is very nice and attentive! We were well received and the entire staff took care of us, often preventing our needs even before that we ask:)
The parc is very well keeped, with many old beautiful trees and flowers, the pool and jacuzzi area is very relaxing and clean.
We had just one little remark to do, that our room hadn't a minibar... But that's all!
Thanks for everything to the staff:)

“Charming Rhone Country Chateau”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

Recently, my husband & I stayed at the charming French Chateau,
Manoir Le Roure & Spa located in the Rhone Valley. Our purpose was to enjoy selected wineries in the valley, as well as enjoy the food & culture of the region. The Chateau & "Orangerie" have been totally restored & divided into a combination of rooms & suites for guests.
It is ecclectic, but thoroughly charming. The owners have chosen the mid/late1800's for much of the restoration . . as well as updating each room & suite with baths, climate control & high speed internet & TV. Of particular note to us were the lovely bed & bath linens used at the Chateau as well as beds that provided us with the best sleep of our trip. Please go to the web-site for "Manoir Le Roure & Spa" for specific room & general property information. (We stayed in the Mireille at the top of the stairs, a good location for access downstairs) We found the web-site to be accurate in every way & have included a few of our own photos for confirmation. Madame & Monsier (Chef) are gracious hosts providing excellent information & suggestions for the area. We ate both evening meals at the Chateau. The first evening, was somewhat disappointing as the Chateau was hosting a cocktail party for 80 guests in the Orangerie. However, the next evening, the chef was at his best, and we had his full attention. He is open to doing things off the menu, and did a wonderful job, providing us with entertaining commentary, as well as culinary information about the specific Montelimar area. As we were the only guests at the Chateau, this meal was charming, and indeed, romantic in the lovely, candle-lit, totally French dining room. Although, we would not give the
restaurant the 4 stars acclaimed on the web-site, we would deem the
service & food "good" . . .and would suggest that everyone try the restaurant once & make their own determination as tastes & experience differ widely. Also, not knowing what restaurants are avaialbe in the region, this would be a good first night suggestion until you can get your feet on the ground for another culinary destination. Over-all, we would highly recommend a stay at the chateau.
Although our purpose was not to enjoy the Spa, we would think that
it would be worhtwhile for those looking for such a destination. We understand that newly updated facilities are in progress for 2011 & will be available when the Chateau re-opens in early Spring.

“Great manor house experience”

We had a great stay with a good chateau atmosphere. Staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions for local attractions. We stayed in the Christine room with a large bathroom and spacious bedroom. A good selection of French TV stations. Had dinner one night with good food, wine, service, and ambiance. Wi-fi connection was strong and reliable. Based on our experience, would recommend this for those seeking a chateau experience in Provence.

“Quirky, Quaint, and Quintessentially French”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2010

Fortunately I was not able to understand most of the bad reviews of this hotel but it would seem to prove that there is a big difference between what us “Brits” like and what our European neighbours expect. When we drove up the Manoir seemed a little more quaint than impressive. Inside however it was quite different, we were welcomed by the wife of the husband and wife team that own the hotel she told us we had the best room in the hotel. Our room was indeed “quintessentially “ French very spacious and immediately our spirits were lifted, you really feel that you are in a special room, equal and better to a lot of 4 star chateaus we have stayed in. We were lucky that the weather was good and I had a walk round the gardens whilst my wife after a long days travel could not resist a nap in the sumptuous bed. The gardens and pool are a delight the pool was a little cool to tempt me in but during the warmer season would be wonderful. I looked at the drinks menu and my first and only disappointment a glass of champagne was 13.5€ . We settled later for a glass of wine brought to us in the garden by the husband of the team who was also dressed as the chef. The dining room is splendid situated in the old Orangery it was a bit daunting with just the two of us but we were made to feel relaxed by the charm and conversation of the owner-chef-waiter-husband. The meal was good and the recommended wine excellent and surprisingly cheap at 19€ when compared to a glass of champagne.
We had one of our best night sleeps in a hotel, superbly comfortable bed and woken only by the croaking of a frog in the morning.
Breakfast was OK not the usual buffet just a plate with an assortment of bread croissants etc, but cereal was quickly brought on request and it seemed more things were also available on request.
The owner told us we were the first “Brits” that year and our numbers have declined considerably, a direct result of the economy, I think, and not the failings of the hotel. Perhaps a little on the high side at 280€ for everything but I would still put it in a “Good Value” category. I think there may be some deals to encourage us “Brits” back worth a try and definitely a good overnight stop on the way to the South
