My wife, nephew and I stayed here in October on a Ramblers Holiday. There had been a problem just prior to our arrival; the managers had left at short notice, and things were not as they should have been. Staff previously at the hotel lead by Maria, took over just two days before the twenty of us descended on them. They all worked very hard to ensure we were made welcome and that our rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was good and plentiful just what you need after a hard days walking in the beautiful Andalusian countryside. The staff were always cheerful and pleasant; it was a fun place to be at. The village of Competa has bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets but keeps its traditional Spanish friendliness and atmosphere.
I just wish, from a personal point of view, that the bar was a non-smoking area, although thankfully the dining room and lounges are.
