We chose this hotel for it's location as we were going to visit Mont Saint-Michel. It is a lovely old Manor House that has been beautifully renovated. Our bathroom was the best one of the whole trip...large with a wonderful shower. The owner is very helpful and gracious. The down side is the corner it is on. It is a very busy intersection with heavy traffic and the room was very noisy even with the shutters closed. If you wanted any air you needed to leave the windows open and then the noise was even worse. If you're a sound sleeper it might work but for light sleepers I'd think about another location.

We stayed at La Ramade for two nights, using it as a base to explore Mt. St-Michel, Avranches, and St-Malo, and Dinan in nearby Brittany. So glad we did! The hotel is a five-minute drive outside Avranches and quite easy to find, and it's tall hedges enclose what amounts to a fair-sized park, a beautiful and tranquil oasis from the crowds that converge daily upon Mt. St-Michel. It is just so slightly off the beaten track and crowded Avranches. Mme. Veronigue is a charming, gifted hostess, and her friendly husband can often be seen tending to their beautiful property. There is a lovely, airy conservatory attached to the main house where breakfast is served, and the grounds it overlooks has clusters of small tables and chairs, statues, trees and flowers, even a festive pavilion with comfortable outdoor "living-room" furniture. In addition to the hotel's rooms there are two apartments available; we took the larger one with two bedrooms that is set apart from the main house and used the single bedroom on the second floor as a changing room. It is actually a good-sized cottage without a kitchen, but is very modern, comfortable and clean, offering a large living room, small dining area, separate toilet and bathroom with a large bath and a very modern "jet-spray" shower. Just beautiful all around, and the price was under 200 Euro per night, so it would be impossible to complain about the very real value of this beautiful hotel and its genuine charm.

A small manor house hotel, just outside Avranches, La Ramade offers clean, tastefully furnished rooms and excellent service. Breakfast, which is very good, costs 11 euros (not bad by French standards!). There is ample free parking on site. The hotel is conveniently located for outings to Mont St-Michel and lower Normandy; and don't miss the collection of Mt. Saint-Michel manuscripts in the museum in Avranches.

..............Our only regret is that we could stay for just one night on this occasion. The rooms are themed with us staying in the 'Amaryllis' suite. Enjoying breakfast in the conservatory and overlooking the magnificant grounds was sheer joy. Furnished in what we believe is typical old Normandy/Brittany style, it really is charm personified. Staff were friendly, extremely professional and very welcoming. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and certainly the most unique and wonderful hotel we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The added bonus is of course that it is surrounded by some of the best countryside in France and only about a twenty minute drive from the imposing Le Mont Ste. Michel. We really cannot recommend this more highly and will certainly return as soon as possible for a longer stay.
