“Rancho Olivier - da Olvidar (forget it)”

We arrived on a Thursday before a 4-day weekend having booked a special rate. The property was in a beautiful setting. We were greeted by the caretaker who took us to the room. It was very dark and musty with lots of moths and mosquitos and the quilt was dirty. As I usually do, I checked the hot water and there was none and the caretaker said he would turn it on as we were the only guests. We evenutally had a hot shower, but no hot water in the bathroom sink and the faucet was very loose. The common area had an open kitchen was exposed to the elements. We needed to have dinner, so the caretaker called a cab then when we returned there was no one on the premises and the main salon TV area was locked and dark even though the caretaker had assured us his replacement would be there at 6pm. Luckily we had a flashlight to navigate the premises and I had my cell but I had to make an international call to the owner Mrs Olivier. Her husband called the other caretaker and he arrived about 30 minutes later. This is the first B&B where I have stayed that an Owner was not present. We never signed in and the price of our stay was charged to my credit card. Never even got a receipt when I left. There was a lot of advertising on Facebook and the rancho’s website is in my opinion inflated or false advertising.
While the Rancho is in a lovely area, the so-called available amenities are very misleading - there was no operating spa, the pool was filthy… It was a terrible experience and what made it worse, the day the Owner arrived she never even apologized for this inconvenience. The breakfasts were OK but the fact that there was an open kitchen with a free-roaming cat, bothered me. You had no choice other than what they brought out to you. We decided to leave and forfeit two nights; packing up, under my suitcase was a huge SPIDER. When I reported it, there was no reaction.
We moved to a very clean comfortable hotel in the town. see review of Brisas del Yaque

“Great place to relax and enjoy nature with finest attentions!”

We've been to Rancho Olivier 3 times, one alone as a couple and 2 accompanied by friends! Both experiences have been unforgettable!!! Since the moment with stepped in we had Dona Maritza (the owner) come and greet us and staff served us welcome cocktails!!! Our room was full of details, every corner had something that made the room special. We enjoyed the best dinner under the moonlight cooked by Dona Maritza herself upon our request!!! The enjoyed a karaoke nite with drinks served from the bar (the guy there was very nice and friendly). After sleeping in a big silence that you could only hear the crickets and the sounds of the night, we woke up to a wonderful breakfast cooked and served by Dona Maritza again, with choices of home cooked breads, eggs, freshly squeezed juice and much more! Later we enjoyed a very nice walk in the woods and a refreshing swim at the pool afterwards!!! Our weekend ended with a relaxing massage and wishes to go back very soon!!!
