“Springboard For Snowdon”

Cannot praise The Don highly enough. For walkers in the Snowdonia National Park, this would be my first choice of accommodation.

The hospitality was exceptional, the views are superb.
For the price, the quality of accommodation is tremendous and there is street parking close by.

It's a short drive to Betws-y-Coed and Mount Snowdon. I checked in to compete in the Snowdonia Marathon, and the staff could not have been more helpful. I'd recommend The Don to anyone.

“Thanks for a nice time there Caroline”

This place was very comfortable, we took our 2 dogs Jake and Serafina (which can stay in the room) and places for them was no problem.

Caroline (The Land Lady was most helpful ( she was originally from Essex! ) bhe was very knowledgeable about the area and a few times recommended to us places to go.

The place was a recently took over by the new owners and was everything you need in a B&B.

The views from our room was very scenic ( showing off the valley like a painting)

Though not in a tourist town it is still central to everywhere. This was most helpfull and of course lots of places to walk.

I can reccommend ' The Don ' to every one.

The only downside is parking ( But parking nearby)

Lovely place, Stunning views, clean, warm and comfortable. Pack lunch was good. And evening meal (although limited choice) was home cooked and yummy. Great friendly place - will come again. Close to all attractions and Owner full of advice as to where to go and what to see - very helpful.

  • Liked — Stunning Views and friendliness
  • Disliked — Parking a problem but easily sorted by owner.

“A real family welcome......”

On a long dog walk near to home we made the rash decision to climb Snowdon, first task was to find somewhere not too far from Snowdon that was dog friendly, not too expensive, and a bonus would be if we could get an evening meal.
Internet trawling followed via various sites and up popped the picure of The Don in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Nothing to really write home about from the external pictures, however when I read that they were not only dog friendly, but could do an evening meal AND could do a packed lunch I started to get quite interested, then when I saw it was licensed I was hooked !!!
Made contact with the owners direct and booking was agreed. Time of arrival was made to ensure we got there in time for that evenings meal.
After 250 miles driving Blaenau is not the most attractive high street by night, and The Don looked very true to its picture, but you must go beyond this.
Limited parking directly outside the B&B but ample within a very short distance, we were immediately made to feel very very welcome. Our room was very clean bright and airy, and warm (this was the last weekend of October afterall).
Claire (the owner) gave us plenty of settling time before serving a beautiful home cooked roast beef dinner, with choice of sweets to follow. We needed an early start the following day to get to & climb Snowdon, and Claire agreed to supply us with a full traditional breakfast ( we werent allowed to call it a full English- but it was !!) I wont say what time in case she gets too many similar requests, but armed with one of her packed lunches we were able to start off before sun-up. This turned out to be a bit of a shame as the views from the rear of The Don are simply spectacular. At the end of our trek we relished the comfort of our room for a while before being supplied with another fantastic meal ( salmon). We were made to feel more like family friends throughout our stay, and they even wanted to keep our Staffie for their own !!
If you want glitz and frills then go somewhere else, if you want good honest food, want to be made welcome and want to stay somewhere where you will want to return to then head straight for The Don.
Oh and by the way Snowdon was quite good..............
