A lovely hotel situated by the sea. For 3* accomodation it was very clean and adequate. The room was a fair size although the bathroom was a liitle small and dingy. The sea view was stunning although because of West facing the room got very hot after midday. The air conditioning was not very efficient although improved slightly after being mentioned to management and then repaired.

The staff were all very attentive, especially those in the restaurant, however, the food although plentiful was not over inspiring and the hot food was only ever tepid.

The pool was situated on the roof and was very clean and a reasonable size for a small hotel. The terrace bar served good snacks at very reasonable prices.

We visited 3 Canary islands on this holiday, the other 2 hotels beiing 4*, however, I have to say that this hotel was certainly better than one of the others!!

The hotel itself (and staff) are very pleasant but I would not recommend a half-board stay at the Hotel Gran Rey until they improve the quality of their food. Their evening buffet was like school dinners all over again. Tinned vegetables and fruit despite being surrounded by all that lovely fresh produce on a prolific island. Overcooked tasteless stodge, poor choice and little variety. Stay there but do eat out as meals in the excellent local restaurants are cheap and of excellent quality.

As for breakfasts - buffet style and little choice but you must try their fruit juices which must be homeopathic as they are thinned down so much that it's hard to tell that you're not drinking water.

La Gomera is the best area yet for some excellent walking.

Very comfortable 3* sea front hotel. Go for the superior, sea view rooms which are well furnished, spacious,a large comfortable bed and have an extensive, sunny terrace. Staff are friendly, hotel clean. Average, but good value buffet dinner. Breakfast buffet plentful but quality lacking and dull. Attractive swimming pool on roof.
Overall an excellent beach hotel which makes an excellent base for a stay on La Gomera with access to many of the walking trails.
