We've just been chilling at Easy Beach for a couple of weeks. We originally planned to only stay there for a few days at the start of our trip to southern Sri Lanka. But the Cornish managers Meg and Phil with their gorgeous little girl Farah made us so welcome, the vibe in the bar/restaurant area was so relaxed and our room was so clean, comfortable and reasonably priced (by Sri Lankan standards at least), that we ended up making the guesthouse our permanent base for exploring all the surrounding surf spots and Galle. The best thing about this place is that if you are a little more obsessed about surfing than your better half, the managers will recommend loads of great yoga, beauty and spa therapy pursuits to keep the good lady happy while you are out on the water. They'll also sort out all your transport and tip you off re. the best beach bars and restaurants and less crowded surf breaks in the area. The guesthouse and the restaurant attract a cool crowd, most of whom seemed to be European, South African or Australian. We'll definitely be coming back.

We stayed 2 nights @ Easy Beach on our tour around the southern coast. Easy Beach is a nice and clean guest house with extremely friendly and helpful staff, not to forget the excellent food you can get here. We had a room which was facing the sea it was relatively big and had it's own veranda. Bathroom was big and clean as well, which was a big plus after seeing many bad bathrooms. The surfbreaks are a short tuktuk ride away.

I recently came back to the guesthouse Easy Beach in Ahangama, on the Sri Lankan south coast for the second time this year. My previous was stay in February 2010. This is indeed a hidden gem - I recommend it to all.

The guesthouse has 7 double rooms, one twin room (to be made into a triple room) and two cabanas. The prices range from 17 euros a night for a single room off season to 35 euros a night (double occupancy in AC cabana during high season). Every room overviews the garden and the ocean (an ocean sunset in this garden is to die for....), and there are individual balconies for all rooms.

The staff are very friendly, and the Norwegian owners are lovely and accomodating people. There is a large garden, with sun beds and hammocks scattered around beneath the shadow of the palm trees. The place is right at the beach, and as soon as you walk outside the gate you are next to a protected lagoon inside the local reef.

There are a number of great surf breaks in the area close to Easy Beach, and the place seems to be very popular among surfers from all over the world. There is a Norwegian surf instructor living at the site. At the time I was staying there, there was a mixture of families with children, couples, singles and groups of friends. The atmosphere is relaxed!

A delicious breakfast is included in the Easy Beach room price, and the restaurant has a tempting menu, with a mixture of western and Sri Lankan food. Chef is local, and trained at the guesthouse over the past ten years - his curries are absolutely beautiful.

I have fallen in love with Sri Lanka, and I will definitely be coming back to Easy Beach in Ahangama!

Great guesthouse, simple, clean, friendly and great food. Stayed for 1 week with my girlfriend, after touring around the country. The resturant is very good with a wide selection of western and eastern dishes and also seems popular with guests staying in other hotels visiting to eat. There are plenty of breaks all a short tuk tuk ride away, The guys are always sitting outside the gate ready to go and most know the spots to take you too. Only downside to easy beach would be not much beach to lazy on and you are restricted by the amount of swimming or snorkelling you can do infront of the guest house by the local stilt fishermen who do not like you going into the water near there stilts as it might scare the fish.
Just a 5min walk from the guest house is the train station where you can get to Galle, only a 20min ride really recommend, Matara and Columbo.
