“Great experience and very nice hotel owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I had a magnificent diner in the Villa Saint Victor with friends. The hotel is sourounded by a big garden and the building is just breath taking. Many beautiful villages are close which are definitely worth a visit.
We had the Apéro in one of the Salons of the Villa, which are decorated with a lot of love and many details. Besides the good food and local wine, the hotel owners and the cosy atmosphere maked us feel very welcome. It`s just the perfect place to spend some relaxing days in the south of France.
Enjoy!

“Charming chateau”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

We had high expectations of this hotel and were not disappointed. Some of the other reviews had worried us but we decided to take a chance. We were glad that we did. All the rooms are different the property is spacious enough to make you feel you in a chateau, but it's so large that you feel it is too grand for you. It was delightful and felt like you were staying with a friend. On our first night we were the only people staying and had the place to ourselves. It felt wonderful! Our turret bathroom was lovely and you could lie in the bath and look at the view. The formal garden and terrace were delightful for a pre-dinner drink. The pool area was pleasant and we had the pool to ourselves. The owner was attentive and brought afternoon tea to the pool. It is all very informal and rustic. If you want typical hotel service go to the Best Western in Uzes! There weren't enough guests to warrant the gourmet dinner which disappointed us but we'd already discovreed an excellent restaurant in Uzes that the owner booked for us. I would agree with the others that 18 euros for a mediocre breakfast was not on, especially as the chefs were in the kitchen and could have cooked something to order. However I would recommend this place very highly. You just have to make it work for you.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the garden/terrace not the village as you will be opposite the church and...

“Great place, lots of character! Great food, good location to explore.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

The hotel has lovely old world French charm in abundance. Our room was one of the lowest priced but was good sized, with great views, clean and comfortable. We ate dinner here for 3 nights, 2 nights meals were excellent, one was average for the 39 euros per head charge. Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke a high standard of English which helps if your French is as poor as ours! Town of Uzes is 6 miles away. Uzes is a great place full of character with lots of places to eat. Hotel is a good location to explore Avignion, Gorges d'Ardeche, Point du Gard as well as broader Provence/Rousillon area. Great place and we would definitely visit again. If there are two reccomentaions we could make it is please install air conditioning and offer a little more for the 18euro breakfast charge.

“A Disappointment Overall”

I had high expectations when I read the reviews before choosing this place for a one night stop over including dinner. The villa itself is a very handsome building and our room was a generous size with high ceilings some period antique furniture. It had a shabby-chic charm to it, albeit a little tired in its appearance. The hotel interior is much the same, some nice pieces of furniture mixed with the odd junk shop accessory. Our meal was by far the biggest let down. It was a set menu 39 euros each we had only the choice of a salad niciose starter which was very small and served in a soup bowl followed by a beef stew which was very very tough and very over salted. My partner left hers I ate mine under protest as I was very hungry after a long drive. We checked out in the morning and drove to Uzes and found plenty of places we wish we`d had picked instead. The Villa Saint Victor is not what it aspires to be and the meal was about the worst I had in the three weeks I spent in France.

“Wonderful surprise”

My husband and I stumbled on Villa Saint Victor by chance after leaving our accommodation in the south of France to the last minute and booking online from a short list of properties that had vacancies. We were incredibly fortunate to end up here.

The villa itself is a beautifully restored country house of the very grand variety. The gardens and pool area are well maintained and birds and frogs add a lovely chorus to the evenings. The bedchambers are large with high ceilings and complementary furnishings that make for a very comfortable stay. The shared spaces in the villa, the dining and living areas are welcoming and invite the guests relax while listening to music or reading a book from the Villa's library. It is a lovely environment either for sharing stories with fellow guests or spending romantic time with your partner.

The owners and staff are very hospitable and customer focussed, prepared to assist with anything from touring tips to restaurant selections or the best type of wine to go with your dinner.

The true highlight of the villa for us though was the restaurant. The evening meal is a set menu, put together and prepared by the owners who are very talented chefs. The five courses offer a truly gourmet experience for a very reasonable price. A lot of local produce is used and the wine list, while not huge, offers some lovely choices to complement the meal. Do yourself a favour and make sure you plan at least one meal here.

One thing to note - the villa does not have television, so be prepared to rely on old style, more sociable relaxation methods, like talking, walking or reading!
