My husband and I stumbled on Villa Saint Victor by chance after leaving our accommodation in the south of France to the last minute and booking online from a short list of properties that had vacancies. We were incredibly fortunate to end up here.
The villa itself is a beautifully restored country house of the very grand variety. The gardens and pool area are well maintained and birds and frogs add a lovely chorus to the evenings. The bedchambers are large with high ceilings and complementary furnishings that make for a very comfortable stay. The shared spaces in the villa, the dining and living areas are welcoming and invite the guests relax while listening to music or reading a book from the Villa's library. It is a lovely environment either for sharing stories with fellow guests or spending romantic time with your partner.
The owners and staff are very hospitable and customer focussed, prepared to assist with anything from touring tips to restaurant selections or the best type of wine to go with your dinner.
The true highlight of the villa for us though was the restaurant. The evening meal is a set menu, put together and prepared by the owners who are very talented chefs. The five courses offer a truly gourmet experience for a very reasonable price. A lot of local produce is used and the wine list, while not huge, offers some lovely choices to complement the meal. Do yourself a favour and make sure you plan at least one meal here.
One thing to note - the villa does not have television, so be prepared to rely on old style, more sociable relaxation methods, like talking, walking or reading!
