How to choose a title for my review if all the superlatives have been used already? We went on (one year late) honey moon and as a couple really needing to relax from stressful jobs (i'm a trader and my husband is a surgeon), and as soon as we were walked to the seafront via the beautiful garden full of palmtrees of all sorts and flowers of all colours, our stress started slipping off our shoulders. We stayed at the Spa Hotel, in the Picasso bedroom which has a huge terrace with wonderful sea views (would have been ideal to bring our labrador as it is big enough, so we regretted having left him behind!) From the terrace you an hear some traffic but as the famous winding corniche road is relatively quiet it did not bother us. In the bedroom we had a huge window ( top to floor) so lovely to see the sea lying down
Be aware that there are two villas - the other called boutique Hotel has a nicer pool but that is it. Our villa had a seafront hot tub, and a seafront gym, for sports addicts this is the one! Plus the spa hotel had a very romantic hot tub up in the moorish tower, with a view of the sea and garden as well as a wet sauna, bliss!!
The staff was very helpful, and smiley, Eva and Miss Siong in particular, i lost an earring and they actually found it in the garden somewhere after I'd given up hope!
We had to move rooms after 5 days as they were full when we booked but we didnt go far - the Matisse room was quite similar, huge terrac e with seaview but smaller window from the bedroom so less seaview than the Picasso- but also cheaper so we were delighted. Lovely multi jet shower in the marbled bathroom. The whole villa has been recently painted and the bedroom still smelled a bit of paint, but was therefore very clean feeling. The only down side was at breakfast there was a bit of a wait but they had warned us with a smile so we adopted the french relaxed style and chilled out.
We dined on the seafront every night except the last where we dined on our terrace (they will literally plonk a table wherever you ask for!), and the food is delicious (just more quantity of sauce would have been appreciated).
We took the dinghy out to explore the coast a bit - for free! Except 5 euro for diesel... Really worth it - go towards St Raphael for stunning creeks where noone else can go!
At the end of our holidays we started mulling over the thought of giving our jobs up to run a b&b like this, but we didn't think such another spot on earth exists!
