“What a luxury”

Perched on the edge of the Mediterranean, this resort is fantastic. The staff are amazingly helpful and the grounds + view are the best in the region. Two nice outdoor pools, large spa with view of the sea, gym (a little rusty but otherwise great), use of a boat and canoes, snorkelling gear... Wander along the beaches nearby if you like, or just stay inside the resort and live like royalty. Have at least one dinner in the resort - it is by the water and the food is amazing.

First of all Saint-Raphael is not the best place ,second the villa is directly on the road and very , very noisy, third the service is provided by students gentle but incompetent, fourth the management is totally absent, fith the park is small . The web site is misleading . Finally the Hotel is expensive. Go Elsewhere

“Exquisitely unique. Amazing setting, blissfully calm but expensive. A real treat.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011 via mobile

We stayed there for two nights and it was perfect. It's more like an upscale Residence than a hotel.

Beautiful gardens and pool with wo much space that you're not really bothered or aware of the other guests that stay there.

Not much to do or see in the local vicinity but with such amazing grounds yo don't want to leave anyway.

We in the cheapest rooms - "romantic" which were relatively basic but quiet as it was poolside.

I think that if you paid top wack fr the largest rooms (€900+) you'd be expexting more from the serivce but once you get over the fact that it's not a hotel and you relax, you'll love it.

Had dinner overlooking the sea which was an amazing setting like something out of the films. The food was good although quite expensive fr the portion size.

“Incredible!”

How to choose a title for my review if all the superlatives have been used already? We went on (one year late) honey moon and as a couple really needing to relax from stressful jobs (i'm a trader and my husband is a surgeon), and as soon as we were walked to the seafront via the beautiful garden full of palmtrees of all sorts and flowers of all colours, our stress started slipping off our shoulders. We stayed at the Spa Hotel, in the Picasso bedroom which has a huge terrace with wonderful sea views (would have been ideal to bring our labrador as it is big enough, so we regretted having left him behind!) From the terrace you an hear some traffic but as the famous winding corniche road is relatively quiet it did not bother us. In the bedroom we had a huge window ( top to floor) so lovely to see the sea lying down
Be aware that there are two villas - the other called boutique Hotel has a nicer pool but that is it. Our villa had a seafront hot tub, and a seafront gym, for sports addicts this is the one! Plus the spa hotel had a very romantic hot tub up in the moorish tower, with a view of the sea and garden as well as a wet sauna, bliss!!
The staff was very helpful, and smiley, Eva and Miss Siong in particular, i lost an earring and they actually found it in the garden somewhere after I'd given up hope!
We had to move rooms after 5 days as they were full when we booked but we didnt go far - the Matisse room was quite similar, huge terrac e with seaview but smaller window from the bedroom so less seaview than the Picasso- but also cheaper so we were delighted. Lovely multi jet shower in the marbled bathroom. The whole villa has been recently painted and the bedroom still smelled a bit of paint, but was therefore very clean feeling. The only down side was at breakfast there was a bit of a wait but they had warned us with a smile so we adopted the french relaxed style and chilled out.
We dined on the seafront every night except the last where we dined on our terrace (they will literally plonk a table wherever you ask for!), and the food is delicious (just more quantity of sauce would have been appreciated).
We took the dinghy out to explore the coast a bit - for free! Except 5 euro for diesel... Really worth it - go towards St Raphael for stunning creeks where noone else can go!
At the end of our holidays we started mulling over the thought of giving our jobs up to run a b&b like this, but we didn't think such another spot on earth exists!

“A beautiful location, incredible grounds but a few teething problems”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

Villa Mauresque really is in a prime location. The two villas are directly on the Cote d'azur next to the little port of Bouloris. The grounds are immaculate- each villa has its own pool and garden area and access to the water. The villas are not hotels but rather guest houses which offer a number of services.

When you arrive you are likely to feel incredibly special after having stayed in a number of places in Southern France this is hard to beat on the location and grounds front. There are also a number of special extras that make this place a cut above some others. The hotel has a little boat yard where you can take out canoes and a little rubber duck. There is a private chef who will be happy to rustle up something that not's on the menu. You can chose where to have your table- on the sea front, on your balcony or even in your room.

Those are the positives, the Villa Mauresque does have a few issues which could well spoil your stay. There is a major problem with service and staff. Everyone who works there is very friendly and tries hard, but little problems or issues generally become huge difficulties. There seem to be far too many trainees and not enough experienced staff working at the Villa. We also found the quality of rooms to be very lacking- bad cleaning, appalling beds, not working televisions. The rooms (in the Palais) are all in need of a general overall and major investment. If you are used to small luxury hotels or guest houses you are likely to be disappointed at the standard of rooms.

This really could be a first class place to stay and it is a shame they let themselves down on room and service quality.
