We loved Chateau de Salettes. This old chateau has been fantastically restored and modernised. Although there is a stark contrast between the old and the new we loved it. It was bright, modern, well appointed and the family room we had was enormous, infact one of the best family rooms we have stayed in (5 people, two seperate double rooms (1 upstairs in a 'tower') with their own doors and a third bed in the sitting area. Huge bathroom. We found the food excellent, although not very varied on our return leg. They were extremely tolerent of and kind to the children and the pool area was lovely. The wine tasting from their own vineyard was excellent. We would definately stay there again.

We took up the Hotel's special offer in mid December. We stayed in room 19, it looked wonderful, it was very clean and luxurious.It was very disappointing that I could not sleep at all because of the bed, a thin mattress on boards squeaking every time I moved. Dinner was brought to us with no choice offered in an empty restaurant. It felt very awkward being there. In the morning when we were trying to explain about the bed the staff said the manager was not there and we should write to him. We had a plane to catch so had to leave.
I have now written to the Hotel and will post the response when it arrives. A very expensive sleepless night!

Lovely old Chateau (farmhouse) but it has been completely redone MODERN ! Picture Scandavian stark wood uncomfortable furniture. No beside tables but a stalk-like light that comes out of the headboard (poor for reading). Hardwood floors without rugs. Of course lovely bathrooms and air conditioning, We are old folks and when we see a Chateau hotel we expect it to be old. This may be a trend in remodeling but we don't like it.
Restaurant was very pretentious but all four of us thought the food was not good. 145 euros for the room and 97 euros for dinner for two with one bottle of wine. Staff great. We had planned two nights but left after one.
