We recently stayed at Chateau Meyre for three nights. On arrivall we were warmly welcomed, shown our room and provided with lots of information on the chateau's facilities, breakfast arrangements and local places of interest, restaurants and vineyards. We were aware before booking that the only meal served was breakfast (a continental/cold buffet), that no staff were on duty after 8 pm, that having a car is virtually a necessity and that any restaurant we might want to go to for dinner could be up to half an hour's drive away. In the event none of this spoiled our stay in any way.
The chateau itself is an imposing building set in attractive gated gardens. Our ground floor room was spacious, well appointed and nicely furnished - with a small separate sitting room, ideal for relaxing in after a "hard" day's touring the area! The swimming pool was an added bonus. The buffet breakfast we found more than adequate and a member of staff was always around to help. Throughout our short stay we found all the staff whom we came in contact with professional and most helpful - going out of their way to give us the information we wanted.
Compared to the other hotels we stayed in during our three week tour of France, Chateau Meyre offered good value for money. We would be most happy to return and to recommend it to friends looking for a comfortable and relaxing base from which to explore the area.
