“Book the suite and travel like a baron”

Stayed one night at Chateau Meyre in September in the Ceridwen Suite which was situated on the top floor of the main chateau building. The sleeping room was huge and the bathroom was super HUGE with a nice shower cubicle plus a big bathtub in an adjacent room. Attaching to the sleeping room were a private lounge area and a spacious roof terrace overlooking the Chateau's beautiful garden and vineyards. We had breakfast in the tastfully-furnished dinning room on the ground floor. The Chateau had no restaurant on-site but we enjoyed our take-away dinner on the terrace.

The room came with a free tour to the Chateau's winery and a wine tasting which was very enjoyable (professionally guided by Pierre-Alexander). There was also an outdoor swimming pool and a tennis court for guests to work out.

Though we stayed only one night it was one of our best Chateau experiences in France.

Room Tip: Book the suite if it is available (when the Chateau owner is not hosting his own guests there)

“Nice Chateau in a vineyard setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights in mid October. It's a beautiful little Chateau, free parking within the chateau wall. The room we had was in the main part of the Chateau and looked out over their vineyard. The staff checking us in was helpful and breakfast was buffet style typical continental French with yoghurt, bread, croissants, jam, butter, juices, coffee/tea/hot chocolate and bowl of fruit. A toaster was supplied and milk plus mueslix cereal. The room we occupied was small but functional and very traditional flowery 1800s. The rooms downstairs included the dining room and a lounge/sitting area which guests were welcome to use. The Chateau makes it's own wine and offer free wine tours and tastings. It's reasonably close to les Dunes du Pyla (45 min), Pauillac and other of the Medoc wine growing areas (approx 20 min). Note the price was a bit higher than a B&B at 95 euros plus tax per night- but the ambience was worth it. Note my neck and French pillows do not get along. These had the typical flat pillow but the comforter was great.

“Feel yourself a chateau owner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Very nice Chateau and amazing suite! Its so romantic to have bottle of Chateau vine on your own room terrace, looking on the vineyard this wine was produсed from and finding your room windows on the bottle's label :)

No food except breakfast.. Though wine with some cheese and ham is probably nice possibility to have a break from the restaurant food :) Chateau building is just by the road, so you can hear permanent car noise (not very disturbing though) when outside the building only.

Chateau Meyre is well located between Margaux and Pauillac. The chateau looks nice from the outside but the rooms are small and plain vanilla. There is no vie de Chateau inside. Price is reasonable but if you plan ahead you could better choices in the regions

“Beautiful chateau in the heart of Medoc”

This charming chateau is in the heart of the Medoc vineyards, and is an absolute treasure. The welcome we received was warm and friendly. The room was in the annexe but was very well appointed, and spotlessly clean. Situated within the chateau's own vineyard wine tasting is available to all guests, but with such esteemed chateau such as Margaux, Lafite and Mouton Rothschild, etc close by the options for wine tasting are vast. The complimentary continental breakfast buffet is served in the chateau, which also has a large reading room with books and magazines in various languages. The hotel does not have a restaurant, so be prepared to travel for an evening meal (we saw one couple sitting on the terrace with a baguette, salad, cheese and charcuterie, and a bottle so I assume that the hotel will provide plates and cutlery if asked).
We only stayed for one night but at the price of the rooms this would make an ideal base to explore the Medoc, Atlantic coast, and Bordeaux.
In summary - perfect, and we will return. We will definitely recommmend this hotel considering a trip to the Medoc.

Room Tip: From what we saw any room is good, but unless you are staying in the suite ask for one of upstairs r...
