Based on other reviews this is probably not a good base for visiting Rome but our purpose was quite the opposite – we wanted to avoid Rome and Fiumicino for our last night returning from a motoring tour of the south. Hotels around the airport didn’t appeal nor did driving into downtown Rome. Nettuno allowed us to (a) avoid Rome (b) have a pleasant last evening in a seaside location and (c) have a reasonably stress-free drive next day straight up the coast to Fiumicino airport spending a couple of hours in Ostia Antica.
The hotel itself was fine – friendly helpful reception staff, nice reception area, reasonable size bedroom and bathroom, safe and A/C, balcony with view over marina (not all rooms), TV though not many channels (SKY available at €8pn but beware it’s nearly all Italian).
Parking could be an issue in high summer. The hotel has 4 spaces outside but I reckon the chances of getting one are low. We parked 100m down the street at pay and display rates. There were spaces available in the promenade car park further down and these may be free.
Breakfast was unexciting but fine, with no cooked option despite two tantalisingly placed (empty) serving dishes.
Hotel was quite convenient to old town which was hopping on a Friday night.

Extremely nice hotel and wonderfully friendly, helpful front desk. Rooms were larger and more comfortable than expected in an urban beachfront location. Our room had a balcony overlooking the beach. We only stayed one night prior to a morning flight from Rome. It's a bit farther to the airport than we expected and apparently the roads can be quite congested, although we didn't encounter any problems early in the morning.

As with most of the leisure hotels I stay in, this hotel was booked using this site for advice and the internet to book; ergo blind!
The hotel is located right by the coast overlooking the marina, with a small busy road and parade in front of it- which is great for people watching etc. Upon closing your balcony doors the noise does not disturb you.
I met and explained immediately to the manager Antonio that it was my parents 50th wedding anniversary and he put them straight away into the best room on the top 7th floor. He located us near to them on the 5th. Our rooms were scrupulously clean and well appointed. Air conditioning, satellite tv, Sky news etc, balcony, fridge etc. The bathroom had a shower but no bath, not that I was bothered. The hotel has just been re-furbished and the restaurant was closed.


The breakfast on the 7th floor was continental with a large choice of rolls, fruit, eggs, tea and coffee etc. The staff were very helpful and eager to please; that went for the whole of the hotel staff, especially the manager!


We stayed for 4 nights and our overall experience was fantastic, my parents still talk about how they enjoyed that hotel.

We have just stayed here for a week, combining a few days by the sea and a few days visiting Rome.

The hotel is clean, comfortable and well kept, and the staff are generally helpful and friendly (except at checkout, when we had an early train to catch, and the guy on checkout was far more interested answering the phone).

Nettuno itself is OK, but it's not a pretty town. If you're expecting something ridiculously cute like Sorrento, think again. Also, if you’re not a lover of fish you might be a bit challenged finding something to eat in town. If you do want to combine Nettuno with a Rome trip, the train to Termini takes about 70 minutes, runs hourly, and costs 7 Euros for a day return including metro and buses in Rome. Last train back is 21:47, so don’t expect any late nights in Rome.

My one piece of advice would be if you're staying over a weekend, try to get a floor on a higher floor. The road outside can get quite busy with traffic and pedestrians. If you like people watching, it seems like the whole town dresses up and promenades each evening over the weekend.
