We found this gem on the internet. We wanted to find somewhere peaceful in a good location for a week's hiking on the island of La Palma, which is one of the quiet Canary islands. Thomsonfly had just started direct flights to Santa Cruz in La Palma. Sonvida offers value for money. The Dutch owner was extremely welcoming and we thought his website was honest and accurate. The gardens were fabulous, full of fruit and flowers, with good views across to the town of Tazacorte, the mountains and the sea, including sunsets. We were invited to pick our own pomelos and oranges for breakfast and they tasted so good! The pool was well maintained, with lots of chairs, tables and sunloungers. The bungalow was clean and well equipped. It is only a fifteen minute walk to the village centre, where you can buy breakfast items or have an evening meal. Although we were unlucky with the weather, we spent quite a lot of time in the gardens with a bottle of wine or Cava, and it was always extremely quiet and relaxing: no voices, no traffic, no dogs barking.
