The staff in this hotel were on the whole extremely courteous and amiable. However, that is where my praise will finish.

A large proportion of the hotel is very outdated and in desperate need of refurbishment. We were unfortunate enough to end up in a room which stank of stale urine. The springs were coming through the mattress. The floor tiles were cracked and old. The decorations were faded and old. Wallpaper was peeling off and fixtures and fittings were in dire need of repair.

For me, the restaurant was the biggest insult. The food is apparently all cooked from frozen and seems to target the lower-to-middle class British tourist. Highlights from breakfast included: *mass-cooked, foul and greasy bacon (I am a bacon lover normally) *what appeared to be ASDA frozen sauages *the worst scrambled egg I have ever had the misfortune of eating. Seriously, how can you mis-cook scambled egg? Chips are standard with every meal. Fresh vegetables were scarce. Peas, carrots, brocolli, sweatcorn were either tinned or frozen. Sometimes they would cover the vegetables in batter in a bid to disguise this.

The pools were adequate albeit surrounded by rows and rows of tightly packed sun beds on which you would typically find obsese, tattooed, bejewled Brits sporting union jack swimming trunks.

And then onto the beach. The one aspect of the holiday which could have made it enjoyable was actually the most disgusting. The amount of litter was simply astounding. We also observed on more than one occassion faeces on the beach which appeared to be human. Despite this, the sunbeds on the beach are tightly packed and rented out at extortionate rates.

I would stringly advise against anyone staying here unless what I have described appeals to you. I will uploaded photographs to evidence my claims in due course.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a one week stay at the Playa Imperial. We were very impressed with the hotel and enjoyed our stay very much.

The hotel staff were incredibly polite, friendly and efficient. All reception, restaurant and bar staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful. The cleaners and the chambermaids always greeted us with an 'Hola!' and a smile and made us feel very welcome. We've stayed at quite a few hotels over the years and have never stayed anywhere with such nice employees!

We were half board and found the food to be rather good overall. We really enjoyed breakfast - the selection of food was brilliant and the quality was generally quite high. Dinner wasn't as good as breakfast, in our opinion, although the food was still quite good. There wasn't much variety with the dinner options and, being vegetarian, I found my choices quite limited.

The location of the hotel was ideal. We could leave our room and be on the beach within about two minutes. The beach and sea were both very clean, not too crowded and were very nice to lounge about on! There are a few souvenir shops, small supermakets, bars and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk from the hotel which were very handy and staffed by very friendly people.

The pool areas (there are three pools to choose from - the Playa Imperial is linked with the two hotels next door so you have full use of their services) look out over the beach and were kept clean and in a good state of repair. There were plenty of sunloungers around the pools and in the surrounding area.

Our room was very clean and well presented. The room was a decent size and fully equipped with everything we'd need. The walls were quite thin so we could hear people making noise in the hallway and the rooms next door. However, since most of our fellow holiday makers were young families or older couples, the noise didn't go on too late!

In my opinion the best thing about this hotel is the staff. Their friendliness meant that I felt very welcome and happy to be there. Their efficientness meant that I encountered no problems during my stay.

The thing I liked least was the poor selection of vegetarian food. My choices were generally cheese, potato, bread or pasta based, which is fine for a few days but gets a bit tedious after a week. But in saying that, I always found something to eat and I always enjoyed it, so I'm in no way complaining about the food!

Overall we found the Playa Imperial met our needs very well and would recommend it to anyone looking for a well-priced, relaxing beach holiday. We are considering returning next year because we enjoyed it so much!

We have just returned from this hotel following a 5 night break ..... if you are booked to go to this hotel you have no worries it is clean, the food was lovely the 2 guys in the pool bar were first class always happy and smiling despite working very hard. We have travelled on average twice a year for 25 years and this is without question the best 3 star hotel we have stayed in. The only downpoint is the bars are very busy in the evening often had to queue for some time to get a drink. We observed from afar the entertainment in the day time and all those participating appeared to be having a fine old time. The hotel shares facilities with the dorada and the evening entertainment was based there, from experience the quality of this was on par with other all inclusive hotels. . . . .location was excellent right next to a super beach the resort is small and quiet with a few bars and restaurants.

My partner and I have just returned from 10 days at the Playa Imperial, we wished we had of booked 2 weeks. I am 29 and he is 24, we went for our annual holiday, we weren't looking for a romantic break or a party holiday. Last year we went all inclusive 4 star and were wondering what 3 star would be like, the food was good, lots of variety at lunch and dinner (same breakfast choices every day though). lots of salad and vegetables and a staple pasta dish, rice dish and fresh cooked meat and fish at the grill. We are not fussy eaters so we felt this was more than enough for us, there were also lots of choices that children would like. The dining room was very clean could get a bit crowded at times in the evening but we never had trouble getting a table. The snack bars were open 10-10 so for a change you could get food like burgers, hot dogs, egg and chips, sandwiches and salads. All freshly cooked and quick.

The staff at the hotel were lovely everyone was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

What made the holiday for us was the entertainment team, they was a programme of activities every day, water polo was probably the most popular! Also tennis, killer pool, killer darts, french bowls, football, rifle shooting, ping pong. My partner is very sporty and so really enjoyed these, on the other hand I like to just lay on my lounger and from there you can watch water polo and not get so involved. The entertainment team also did a great job in the evenings, all the children who were there were loving it and they also did things to involve the adults. Particluarly one of the team called Diego was always putting in 110% working really hard to ensure the kids had a great time.

There was evening entertainment for the adults like a magican, knife throwers, acrobats, singers but they also involved the children. These shows were good, depends what you like really.

Whilst there we met lots of other holidaymakers and there were so many who told us they had been coming for the last 9-10 years, for the hotel and for the location. The beach is lovely and only just down a few steps from the hotel.

The hotel was very clean, maid service daily, the pool areas were thoroughly cleaned every night.

There are other reviews on this site complaining about the lack of variety in the food and the entertainment, you have to remember this is a 3 star hotel so you will not be served steak every night and this is a hotel for everyone so there will be kids running around all day and you will probably be the victim of a water gun at some point! Its main aim is fun I would recommend it to anyone wanting a cheap and cheerful break, we will definately be returning.

We booked a week at the Playa Imperial very late as we had trouble booking anywhere for a party of 7 and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very clean and the staff pleasant and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom spotless. They were cleaned six days a week. The air conditioning was very necessary but only available July and August so I would not stay there outside that time. The facilities of the hotel next door were available for use so there were two poolsand two kiddy pools. The pool area was very clean with lifeguards on duty all the time although the pool next door was closed for cleaning twice after small accidents! The sunbeds around the pool were always busy but there were a couple of terraces so we had no problem getting sunbeds. The food was very good with plenty of choice and always topped up regularly, the only criticism another toaster would have saved queuing every morning and warm plates would have been nice! The beach at Cala Llonga is absolutely superb, cleaned every day, the main drawback was jelly fish, they were not as numerous as the last time we stayed in Cala Llonga and not as vicious but they still gave you an unpleasant sting. There was a lifeguard on the beach with a spray or a plant which grew around the bay which soothes stings. Our party ranged in age from 6 to 81 and everyone enjoyed the holiday immensely. It would be difficult for anyone who is disabled as there are lots of steps around the pool area.
